One hell of an effort tonight.

Defence and discipline in the second half was absolutely immense.

Can't praise the players enough.

, Laughton was a disgrace and gave us no protection. So many positives to come out of tonight. STILL NOT HAPPY about our half backs . Still lacking that off the mark line splitter from stand off or scrum half who will take on defences and create havoc.

Who scored the first try then 'All Time Low' and who injured himself in so doing?

OK, his kicking wasn't too hot but we won.

What were the problems with our 'half backs'? They were up against two excellent half backs and Helliwell performed really well, especially as he has only played a handfull of first team games. He reovered extremely well after the first crunching tackle that he made. Would you have done the same?

Our worst enemy (again) was Laughton who ignored constant 'off-side', 'not standing square' at play-the-ball, 'laying-on' in virtually every tackle to slow us down and almost gifted Toulouse a first half lead at half-time but the penalties that he gave.

Positives:

1. Tackling and palying as a team.
2. Someone who I met yesterday for the first time in 10 years, and told him that the game was on this evening (HE WAS COMPLETELY UNAWARE), came down with his son-in-law (his first RL game) and couldn't believe the transformation and will come again. COUGARS MARKETING; PLEASE WAKE-UP AND START SPREADING THE NEWS.
3. A chap from Shipley, who stopped to let us cross the Shell station exit, asked about the result and 'if we'd been two of the 478' (what a disgrace) and said that he'd never been before but was thinking about comint to the next game.
4. After what seems to be many years of simply driving the ball down the middle we finally have a coach in JD who actually knows what he wants his team to do and, even more essential, can get them to perform to his 'game plan'!

NEGATIVES:
I can't find any really when you get such a result for the first time in many years.

Am I the only one in thinking that Ronnie Laughton didn't actually have that bad a game?

He missed a few things, which all refs do. I don't think he favoured either side and impressively our guys didn't give him many excuses to blow his whistle.

Yes - You must have drunk too much.

It was a good win.
Just what this team needed, to build some confidence for the up coming league campaign.
More importantly, it will give the club chance to get some money in.
Playing the French must cost the club a fortune. 478 is a really poor crowd.

There seemed to be more understanding within the team, except on the last tackle. Really poor options, were picked at least 3 times resulting in wasted plays.

Helliwell was outstanding last night. He would have been my man of the match.

Wigan at home next would be great

I would like York at home next, and then a Super League Club in the 5th round.

I agree, not a perfect performance, but he penalised them in some critical positions - if he really did have it "in for us" he wouldn't have done that would he



I thought he allowed laying on for a fraction too long, but he was consistent although he should have policed "not square" more.

The important thing was we put in a great performance and did not give the ref any reason to penalise us - didn't see too much backchatting either (except from their No7).

We simply looked like a different side today, full of enthusiasm and doing things at pace. Some of our passing was a little "telegraphed" and if other sides watch the video I am sure they will be looking for interceptions.

A very solid performance that can be built on, a few tweaks here and there and we will be in for a good season.

You must be a mind reader, we were saying the same in the bar last night.

SL clubs supporters can use there season tickets when they enter the comp "i think" so i think you want to avoid them in the next round.
Scolers or gateshead would be better then get a big yorkshire club ,you cant have wigan or warrington cos we want one of them - we need the money too

I'd be interested to see what the penalty count was. I reckon it would have favoured us.

Now that was an exciting game.

We all know what to expect from him.

I think he improved in the second half but offered no protection to our players but after a game like that I would rather say WELL DONE LADS, some poor choices made but it is still early and as the team plays more together and the weather improves so will we.

When i mentioned LAUGHTON i referred to the ref, not DANNY LAWTON (who i rate very highly), Could i handle a smack that Hellewell took early in the first half ? highly unlikely... but that is why i pay my money to watch players take the hits week in week out. Luke is a very tough player indeed and has taken some big hits so far this season (Rochdale friendly!!!) He has a good rugby brain and will improve as the season progresses, my only fear is that we lost 2 major playmaking half backs and they will take some replacing! (and i`m just not convinced we have got the right combination)THIS IS NOT A DIG AT ANY OF OUR LADS. Like i said last night there were a hell of a lot of positives to come out of the game last night and it was hard to pinpoint anyone for man of the match, in what was a brutal game against a well established Championship team. For the second time in as many games our pack bossed theirs, which was great to see. Roll on the bread and butter of the league. WELL DONE AGAIN LADS FOR LAST NIGHT....SUPERB

Made the journey over the hill from Halifax last night to watch the game.

I thought that it was a cracking game. Keighley's defence was outstanding, Shickell, Rawlins and Law ran hard and strong all night.

We were talking about some of the last tackle options at the game and sometimes running it on the last tackle when you are only a metre or so from the line can be as good as a kick, as if a kick goes dead they have a 20m tap, wheras a handover you can put pressure on them on their own line and maybe look to force them back over for a dropout.

Well done and good luck for the rest of the season. Will certainly be popping over again when Halifax have a blank weekend!!!

Really enjoyed the game yesterday, the lads looked mean and wanting. Strange shift of the big guns but did work. I too Stealth had no problems with the ref - same couple of errors but nothing biased. Do hope we have a good run.

Excellent game. Only errors lead to thier tries. Huge gap on the wing for the 1st.

Laughton was better in the 2nd half. And if they blew for every offside, it would be a very boring game.

Their first try was certainly an error defensively, however, the second was a show of class from their number 7.
