Well, if we think we are going to win the league with our half's think again.
2 years ago we had probably the best half back pairing in the division.
Last season a half back pairing that held its own with some of the best in the division.
Now both have gone and we have stuck with youth and a utilty back thats been playing confrence
rugby for the past several years.
I personaly wasnt a big fan of Presleys but he could score trys.
Danny Jones was the centre of every play we did and was awesome in defence.
3rd or 4th in the league for us. Hope im wrong and we win it, but i am a realist

Only 3rd friendly of season, different team selections giving all players a fair chance and the doom and gloom merchants are out already

I think it's too early to pass judgement.

Helliwell's looked good in the first team games I've seen him in. Ryan Smith had a good game against Rochdale. Drake has a good looking kicking game.

We need let them gel with each other, learn the new patterns and set plays JD will bring to the fold.

Its not doom and gloom, you cant compare anything we have to Jones & Presley. If your going to hold your own in the division above you need to go up with a team thats been punching above its wieght in its own division and then add to it. Good luck to the lads and i hope im wrong

I agree with Guess What bloody hell facts are Danny Jones is pure class which is why the best team in championship signed him up and clearly leaves a massive void to fill but life goes on. Presley good going forward when he had self belief but poor tackler, it left him all shook up that being said he is nice bloke and wish him although not York well. Regarding the new half backs in whatever combination you have to remember Barry the legend Eaton had more time with most players to put his spin on how they played. As yet JD as only had couple of games to look at and decide his best formation. JD as at his disposal a squad that in my view will be promoted. Also bear in mind JD as the skill and experience that is second to nond to guide the team. Remember Cougar fans do not whinge like the shower over the hillicon_smile.gif

Only time will tell with regards to the coaching but from what I've heard the players are impressed with him so far in this area. There's no doubt that his substantial super league experience will be invaluable in guiding the players on the pitch, when he's clear to play, which to me is what we seem to be lacking now Jones has gone.

Its way to early to tell how good/bad, the new half backs will be.
JD is going to have to let them have a go and see how they work out.

As how good/bad a coach he will be, time will tell.

I think it will be very interesting, to see where he plays.

If he is going to have any roll in organising, the team then he will have to be play 6, 7, 9 or 13. If he plays centre, he wont really be in a position to do any real organising.

Should make interesting times.

You'd assume that JD would play at 13.

Chris Baines could then possibly slot in at Stand Off.

Thats means you drop a half back, without really given them a chance to show what they can do.

As i say interesting times ahead.
