Anyone else wonder how Shickell gets MOM every time? It was either George or Jermaine tonight for me.

What questionable decisions led to our second half tries?
Also, I thought Shickell was outstanding for you, and I can't say I ever rated him before, but thought he had a good, hard no nonsense game and never stopped trying.

It was a decent game for the terrible conditions. Not a classic but the best we could expect in that deluge.

The scrum leading to Batley's 3rd was from a knock on that it appeared he never dropped it.

The final try was a good 6 inches short and he dropped it whilst grounding it.

I have yet to watch it on Sky+, but having been in front of the two tries I would question whether the first was short and the second was knock on both ways, that is not sour grapes, just my opinion prior to the video evidence that may yet prove me wrong!

Either way, it was a good game, both teams fought hard, had decent defence and showed that they are capable of putting in a first rate performance (despite the wheather), shame about the fist-i-cuffs at the end, hope that there are no serious consequences

Well done to the players under awful conditions I say

the first one , he was short of the line and the second was not grounded properly but no complaints, you have to play to the whistle and foe me it was anybodys game.

Hard luck Cougars. We should have won that game. Credit to both teams, to play rugby in those conditions
must have been energy sapping. It reminded me of the game when Joe Grima got sent off. It rained all day.

Good crowd tonight as well. Nice to hear the Cougar fans being vocal.

It was very reminscent of the 1993 (I think) Good Friday game when we beat Batley to win the title.

Truely attrocius conditions and credit must go to both sides for the standard of rugby on display.

Well having watched two matches consecutively for the first time since 2006 I can safely say that was an improvement on last week. I know the conditions were quick and would the scoreline have been similar in dry conditions? Who knows but you can only play the conditions on the night. Nice to see them throwing the ball about even in the conditions, cos as the sky team said what have we to lose in terms of the season let alone the match.

Well done tonight I thought your lads we're well up for it for 80 minutes. Jones looked very good but Shickell was IMMENSE!! He gave 150% tonight and really impressed me! Conditions we're terrible though, hope it improves before the weekend

if its another night like tonight was wet and miserable then you stand a chance,

if its not raining and the pitch is firm, you will put 100% in but i still think in dry conditions that we will beat you comfortably

...I thought one of Batley's tries came up short, but they deserved the one that came after I thought, so fair play to them.
Enjoyed that game, if only because the conditions were verging on the hilarious - couldn't even tell who was on which team by half way through the second half.

Shickell was outstanding FACT.

Don't get me wrong, Shickell had a very good game. However I thought there were players who put in better performances.

For example, there was a marked improvement (and has been all season) in the way we played when Wray was on the field as opposed to Buster.

The fact is the sponsored Man of the Match is becoming a bit a joke when it appears someone has to score a hat trick to take it off Shickell. There were half a dozen of us talking about it in stand who pretty much all said that Jermaine was the best player on the park but Shickell will get it.

It's making a complete mockery of the award to be honest

When Jermaine comes on, there's an immediate difference in tempo; everything is much more intense and crisp. He
's here, then he's over there... then somewhere else, banging tackles in, distributing the ball, encouraging...

I think Shickell was awesome along with Jamaine.

Personally Jamaine should get more time on the pitch as he causes havoc and gives us more go forward when he is pitch.

No one had a bad game but the most pleasing thing was the intensity from the start was there and the players have to do this every game because our first win is not far away.

Me and a few others said we would be happy with a bonus point before kick off,but by the end i was gutted we lost .

If we scored during that early second half pressure i think we could have sneaked it . A s it is well done to both sets of players for an exciting game in those conditions

It's also good to see that we're matching teams in the fitness and stamina stakes. Especially when you consider that most teams are a good bit bigger than our lads. A lot of hard work has obviously gone in there.
