| I agree that we can win, but I also feel we have to enter these matches in the right frame of mind and not one of being effortlessly invincible. Being invincible does not just happen it takes work and concentration.
A few facts and figures.
i. York Nilled London Skolars, LS put 10 past us.
ii. York put 64 past LS, we put 28.
I just feel we need to be careful not to get too carried away. We can win, but only with hard graft right across the pitch for 85 minutes.

Was at your game against London on friday, boy you were poor.
Another fact,
We put 84 past London in London, you managed what!! 28 and 22 of them were in the first half.
But no doubt, as allways you will try and raise your game.

| To be quite honest what York fans think of us does not interest me in the slightest and as another pointed out concentrate on your own team.
Whilst mentioning statistics who has the most points in total between the 2 teams the answer is the Cougars its this that is most important not who scored what against London and other various teams.
At the end of the day assuming York beat Swinton next week we have the pleasure of showing York exactly why we have finished above them, I do however expect it to a close game.
Bring it on.

| Given our home form this season, i'm not overly concerned about York or Oldham for that matter.
We've only lost 2 games at Cougar Park all season, Dewsbury and Castleford, and we more than held our own for almost an hour against both these superior sides.
So long as we don't allow David March (amongst others) to drag us in to an 80 minute slug-fest we'll win by at least 10 points.

Well, I could be stupid, or I could be a retard, as you so succintly put it, somehow I don't think anyone can be both at once. It's one or the other isn't it?
But when apart from your well argued point of view as demonstrated above, the only person bigging up York is 'Rhino Roy' and the objective views of a number of Cougar supporters, I think it's a case of QED where my earlier comments were concerned.
Cougars have finmished second over an entire season and have played the same teams as everyone else. In fact they've finished in guaranteed second with most teams still having a game in hand.
That does actually mean that over the season they've been better than all other teams except Dewsbury - that's a fact.
Now we enter a different phase and a different type of game, a knock out competition. But whatever is achieved or not by Cougars, it will be on the basis of a club standing on its own two feet, not through the assistance and support of a Super League club - how would York be performing without that?

I'd rather be supporting a team battling the Skolars for the wooden spoon every season than somebody else's feeder club.

| jesus I thought this was a forum which is where people are able to voice their opinions on topics related to rugby League.
I read into your reaction that you are probably nervous about the play offs on your current form, and I would too if my team were showing form in recent weeks of a pretty ordinary standard.
Your coach has openly talked about getting to the final which might just come back and bite him on the .
I also guess that the 'feeder club' comment is also probably a little bit exaggerated, but it appears that all the super league clubs are adopting this process. maybe the fact that your local club Bradford have opted to join up with Rochdale instead of the club in their own district !! Now you must be pretty embarrased about that one or let me guess....you turned them down

No thanks we would rather see the fruits of our own labours, as has been evident this season, served us well so far I think you'll begrudgingly agree as is evident in our second place finish.how's york youth system bearing?hmmm

| Rhino Roy lets assume you are a York fan are you not able to realise by being in a partnership (another word for feeder) with Leeds then you immediately are under control of Leeds therefore the identity of your club disappears.
I do not understand why fans of the clubs outside super league are not aware of this. I follow Keighley Cougars and not like you appear to do and follow what in reality will be Leeds reserves.

| Oh there are some tetchy people on this site.
First and foremost it is not yet guaranteed that York WILL be the opposition when the play offs start.
If the "Green ,Red and White" tinted glasses are removed from some peoples eyes then everything is not OK with the team , and no doubt the coach is well aware of that.
The team has been more than capable of beating ANY team in this league all season , and yes that does include Dewsbury, but for various reasons this has not always been the case.
People who UNDERSTAND Rugby League, know what the Cougars "weakness" is and it was shown against the Skolars once again.
I expect the team to progress to the final and hopefully win it, but also being a realist, I can see how it could fall down.
We shall see come the season end.
Post edited for the benefit of those who cannot get their glasses off!

| League fan I have to ask this were you at the Skolars game as I unable to see the weakness you refer to as we did a professional job against the Skolars by doing what we had to do.
You refer to the weakness that apparently we all know about, well if thats the case we have fooled lots of teams as we managed 2nd place, what a terrible team we must have.

| professional job......yeah right
and by the way obeone (I assume you are a star wars fan )
your recent history reads .....
"After dissolving in liquidation, the club was reformed as Keighley Cougars 2001 by former directors Neil Spencer and Colin Farrer.
In January 2002, Keighley Cougars appointed Gary Moorby as their coach in succession to Steve Deakin who join London Broncos as their assistant coach.
Keighley Cougars won National League two in 2003 and were promoted to National League one. However they were immediately relegated back.
Peter Roe returned for his third spell in charge at Lawkholme Lane at the end of 2005, succeeding Gary Moorby and starting the rebuilding process of a club still ravaged by relegation from National League One. The majority of players had left and money was in short supply. Player-coach Barry eaton was the only major signing and promising youngsters were blooded; the side struggled to compete and they finished 11th in the table.
Roe gave Eaton full control as player-coach in 2007. Cougars again struggled and finished 10th. Following a number of signing, Cougars made a strong start to the 2008 season.
and your championship hopes will
probably be history in a few weeks time too....jog on

| Rhino, our lads have lapses in concentration at times, but your posts will have sorted that out, thank you. They always always respond when they are right up against it.
I wonder if we will be calling our loan players back? Is there any need to?

| Folk in glass houses and all that spring to mind. History is just that history but just to jog your memory about York see below.
2006-York finished Ninth in National League Division One
Relegation back to National League Division Two
2007-York finished Sixth place finish in National League Two
2008- York finished Sixth in National League Division Two.
So as you can see what a fantastic record I am so envious
Add to the fact most clubs openly allow away fans in the bars after games with the exception of York its no wonder folk love them so much
Its what happens on 20th September that is important and I look forward to seeing the York fans crying in their beer after they get beat.

| It's definitely not certain we'll meet York anyway. Only 5 weeks ago they lost 20-8 at home to Hunslet and I reckon Swinton are as competent a side as them.

| Hey come on fellas, let's be nice to the York fans on our forum - after all, no-one seems to post very much on theirs!
Jusat for the record, I'm hoping for a good tough, close game on 20th, with a decent crowd (perhaps even some York fans allowed in the bar!!!)
and a Cougars win in the final minutes, perhaps a drop goal by Schick, eh?

| He says we struggled in 06 & 07. But these were learning years for the side, & in both those years recorded very notiable wins against the eventual play-off finalists (albit beaten), Swinton (06) & Oldham (07) and in 2008 not only did we beat both finalists, Doncaster & Oldham, we were the last team in NL2 to beat Gateshead who went onto be NL2 Champions.
This year has been an excellent year, we beat our bogie side, York, recorded a 1st away win at Oldham since 2000, won all apart from 1 home game. Fair to say its been our best year since 2003.
Under Bazza, we have got better and better.

| Going back to the original part of the post, I notice something that wasn't or hasn't been mentioned.
Following the injury to James Feather, Barry was going to play, getting the ok from the RFL on monday, due to his touchline ban. Then, at 1 o'clock friday, yes, 1 o'clock & 6 hours before kick-off, while the team are travelling down, getting told he can't play. This throwing all preparations out of the window that the team had, resulting in young James Haythornwaite getting selected for the first team.
So, all in all, it was a job well done!!
BRING ON THE PLAY-OFFS!!!
