Only time will tell with regards to the coaching but from what I've heard the players are impressed with him so far in this area. There's no doubt that his substantial super league experience will be invaluable in guiding the players on the pitch, when he's clear to play, which to me is what we seem to be lacking now Jones has gone.
Its way to early to tell how good/bad, the new half backs will be.
JD is going to have to let them have a go and see how they work out.
As how good/bad a coach he will be, time will tell.
I think it will be very interesting, to see where he plays.
If he is going to have any roll in organising, the team then he will have to be play 6, 7, 9 or 13. If he plays centre, he wont really be in a position to do any real organising.
