I wouldn't even say Pedrosa is a threat. Certainly not unless he drastically cuts down on the amount of time that he spends rolling around in gravel.
IIRC, Rossi's contract runs to the end of next season. I agree that he needs three seasons (circa 7-8 wins a season) to break the record. I'm sure Yamaha will be happy to keep him on for that period of time although I agree that it wouldn't be a surprise to see Lorenzo overtake him as top dog in the next year or two.

I forgot to put down that Pedrosa does spend some time in the gravel. Then that just leaves Stoner and Lorenzo unless there is someone else I've missed. I'd like to say Nicky Hayden is a threat but he's not.

Definitely. I hope it's as good as last year without Stoner's dummy-spitting if he gets beaten again. That really put me off him.

I'm sure it'll be a good one and Stoner won't spit his dummy out like last year.

| There is a chance that Lorenzo will not be racing tonight after a heavy crash yesterday. If you've seen it you'll know what I mean.

| Raced, but an estimated five-week recovery time will severely put a spanner in the works of his title challenge. In that time, you've got Germany and Donington - not exactly easy circuits.
Both Stoner and Lorenzo need to start finishing ahead of Rossi and soon. That's hard enough when you're fully fit. It's nigh on impossible when you've got shoulder-knack and a mystery illness that turns up every weekend.

It's nothing to do with him being an Aussie, it's because he's a bad loser. I was a fan of Mick Doohan, although it has to be said, at the time when he was riding Motorcycle Grand Prix was becoming really boring due to the fact that the Honda was so superior to anything else out there at the time.
I am also a fan of both Troy Corser and Troy Bailiss in World Superbikes.
Rossi is still the best out there and is a great character even when he loses whereas Stoner behaves like a spoilt child.

I'd expect Lorenzo to stay at Yamaha but I don't think it's sorted yet. There is the small issue of Ben Spies who Yamaha are keen on fast-tracking into MotoGP.
How they go about that is the big question. He'll have to go to Tech 3 (no rookies allowed at factory teams) which [ishouldn't[/i affect Lorenzo but then of course, budgets come into play. Spies will command a pretty big salary given the market potential he has and Yamaha have already said that they aren't interested in a bidding war to keep Lorenzo.

If Spies goes to Tech 3 it could be bye-bye to Toseland as I can't see them dumping Edwards.

That's one option. The other is whether Edwards decides to call it a day.
By all accounts, he's costing Tech 3 more than they initally wanted to be paying out anyway and the question is whether Edwards actually feels motivated enough to continue.
He's a good rider no question but he's pretty much resigned to the fact that he isn't going to be challenging at the top. He could well just decide to call it a day.

You're determined to make this into some sort of nationalist thing, aren't you?
Everyone else is discussing MotoGP as a sport.
