| The bowling and batting doesn't have enough strike players in it.
The Aussies, Indians, South Africans etc have both guys capable of hitting regular boundries on top of picking up the singles and also have bowling attacks that have a good mixture of tight bowlers and strike bowlers.
It's not helping us that the batting line up is totally wrong. We have Morgan at 6 who's a number 3 for Middlesex and is capable of knocking the singles about aswell as taking advantage of the early powerplays, we have Shah moving all over the shop when his only really good form for England has come at 6 and we have prior playing at 4 when the guy is a boundry hitter and not the best at hitting the gaps for 1's and 2's(when thats exactly whats called for at 4). He should be given a settled run as a pinch hitting opener or be put down to 7.

Agree with you about the batting & bowling, but the clown fielding tonight was laughable.
Seems now we've got the ashes in the bag that'll do em for another 4 years.
We've been a shambolic one day side for way too long, still as long as the grounds are keep getting packed they big cheeses wont care.

2 years mate,we get them back in 2011.
I agree with you about the fielding, they looked like a team of 14 year olds.
WHY ON EARTH CANT THEY STICK TO ENGLISH MEN INSTEAD OF BEING A JOKE ALL THE TIME BY PLAYING SARFERS AND OTHER NATIONALITIES.
To be honest I wouldn't spend my hard earned money to watch the pathetic players they are choosing to represent England.

| Do we actually have a 50 over domestic comp in England? Or just the pro40/20/20?

One of the most appalling umpiring mistakes I've seen for some time. Pathetic - it wasn't even a difficult decision.

awful, but couldn't give a flying one, the Aussie would swap a drubbing in the one dayers for that little urn in a hear beat.
Shocking call on Strauss
Great fielding from Punter

| I did something i never thought i'd do. I switched over from a game of cricket involving England.
50-over cricket is rubbish. Sheer, unadulterated rubbish. Watching Nathan Bracken bowl that same bloody 60+mph delivery round the wicket while an England batsman hits it straight into the ground is cricket's equivalent of those Liverpool-Chelsea Champions' League games from a few years ago.
7 games is overkill as well. That's why people are fed up of it.

| Swings and roundabouts, we had a very successful tour in 2006/07 when we won the one day tournament including the Kiwis and Aussies, in the Aussies back yard....I'm sure with a bit of hard work we can be back up to recreate that glorious series in 2010/11.

You can say that again! Barring the single ODI in Ireland, we've played fourteen consecutive international matches of one form or another against the same opposition in the same country in the space of around three months. All these additional ODIs seem to be a sop to the counties who missed out on staging one of the coveted five Ashes Tests, and at least with Australia the tourists this year, a cynical money-making exercise to sell tickets for additional matches against the most attractive opposition.
It can't be a coincidence that the team who win the Test series usually look disinterested and uninspired in the ODIs that follow. It was the same last year when South Africa, who defeated us so impressively in the Test series, appeared to be mentally in the Heathrow departure lounge during the ODIs. And now there are yet more ODIs in South Africa in the uperflous Champions' Trophy, which appears to be merely a scaled down version of the World Cup without the associate member nations. What's the point? Don't the players ever get a break? No wonder England are so ropey in the 50 over games - our domestic 50 overs competition took place almost entirely during April & May and most of our players probably never played in it for their counties.
