He'd only spit it out.
Seriously, that was some ride from Rossi. To crash, remount in, I believe, about 11th place and then to finish 5th and increase his championship lead was remarkable. Stoner would have kicked the bike and burst into tears.

I agree Rossi did really well to recover, but TBF he was helped a little by those who came in for wets as well.

Only when Rossi retires but then you'll have Pedrosa, Lorenzo and others coming through. Just pray Rossi never has a son.

The last Aussie to dominate MotoGP was Mick Doohan and not a one since. It'll be Lorenzo after Rossi retires....maybe Pedrosa as well. Then there are the others in the lower classes that will come through.

| Word on the street is that Casey Stoner will not race at Brno and could also miss the rounds in Misano and Indy, due to illness.
Expecting confirmation from Ducati tomorrow.

Stoner misses Brno, Indy and Misano, returning in Estoril in October.
Kallio will replace him on the factory bike for those three rounds. Michel Fabrizio will take Kallio's place this weekend at Pramac Ducati.

Oh dear. I wonder if this is the start of the end for him. There are plenty of riders out there who seem fine but why fatigue has got to Stoner at his age is a shame.

I'll be interested to see how Kallio does, I think he's got a podium in him on a factory bike.

A more talented rider than Doohan IMO, and he'd just started to get his consistency together when he won the title. Doohan then decides to run him over at Donington in his title-defence season and he never really recovers, whilst Doohan goes on to 5 titles in a row with a dominant bike and gets accolades aplenty. Sport's just not fair at times.

If Spies does decide to move up, it could actually work well for Toseland.
Tech 3 don't want, nor can they afford, two Americans. Spies would be the preferred option for Yamaha over Edwards, given that they want to keep Spies within the company for a factory ride in a year or two (remember that rookies can't sign with factory teams any more).
Edwards will only stay if he can be bothered. He's earned his money and if he woke up tomorrow and felt like quitting, he would do. It took a pretty hefty salary offer to keep him riding this year. Toseland is by far the cheaper option financially and Edwards doesn't bring in any sponsors that Spies wouldn't or couldn't.
The plot thickens when there are rumblings that Dorna could offer Tech 3 a kick-back to keep JT, given that they see a British rider as vital to working their way into the UK market. Whether that part works in practice is doubtful, but it's an interesting twist.

| The commentators speculated at the last race that Vermeulen is rumoured to have approached Tech 3 too. Losing his ride, so allegedly offered to race for Tech 3 for free. So if the cost is the main factor, it could still be curtains for Toseland if it would outweigh any kick-back.
TBH, he doesn't deserve a new deal on this year's performance. If it wasn't for the fact he's the only Brit in the field nobody would be remotely interested.

I can't see what Vermeulen think's he's gaining with that, unless it's just a desperate plea for any form of MotoGP contract to attract / appease sponsors.
He's not a championship caliber rider, he's not going to become one on a satellite Yamaha and he's not that commercially attractive. It does seem to strange move on his part.
