Hull get a late goal back against Stoke but time has beaten them and they go down 2-1.

It would still be mathematically possible.

It seems ridiculous, but that goal could keep Hull out of the bottom 3 for at least another week.

That is unless a victory goes to Boro by 0-2.

The title will probably have been decided by then, and if so, with all that bitterness towards Alan Shearer still held at Old Trafford they'll let Hull beat them 9-0.

Boro would have to win 3-0 to go above city as city have scored more goals

It would be possible but only if Newcastle won all their games by a goal and City managed to win their two by a total of 9 goals.

So in reality it is in Newcastle's hands now.

If we win all three of our games and Hull win both of their remaining games, we'd be level on points. Hull would therefore have to overturn a minimum eight goals in two games to go ahead of us on goal difference.

Not going to happen, is it? It's in our own hands.

Saying that, what's the talk of us winning three games anyway?

City will beat Bolton 5-0 next week

It will come down to goal difference though.

If Newcastle win their last 3 games, they will have 40 points. If Hull win their last 2 games, they will have 40 points.

But at the moment, Newcastle have a goal difference of -19 and Hull only have -24.

So if both teams win their last few matches, Hull will need some high scores in order to stay up and send Newcastle down.

That's without conceding and working on the basis that we claim three 1-0 victories...

I was more nervous about the game against Stoke today than Bolton next week. Bolton are a decent team at home this season.
