I've got a big decision in my game. I've had another mega successful season with Everton, now winning the league easily. I'm not going to update my game ever as I feel the next update will kill off the 4-1-2-3 formation which is nigh on unbeatable on FM11. Also, my team talk strategy is pretty much a cheat which they'll no doubt remove (Just saying you have faith for every teamtalk works wonders).
So after strolling to another success I wondering if I should go somewhere else. Like signing for a lower league Italian side or bringing someone like Southport up. Hmmm...'"
Need to fiddle with my formation for the Blues (Everton) - you might have just solved an issue for me.

| Stupid question really, but is there any way of making Michael Owen not be such a crock? Signed him and he is in great form (8 goals in 7 games) but he can only play 2/3 games before getting injured for weeks. Now he's just been injured for 4-5 months. I play him in the reserves for a couple of games before bringing him into the first team, but he gets injured there too. Any (sensible) suggestions are welcomed!

Nobody could accuse SI Games of making the game unrealistic on that score that's for sure. It's Michael Owen, it goes with the territory.

I understand that it was a huge risk signing him (even though he was free), but I presume there are no ways of stopping him getting constantly injured then ?

I would doubt it, but to be honest I'm still on FM10 so not sure if they've built anything into the training on FM11 that would help.

Other than using a save game editor no, it's not possble. No one can do it in real life either. If they could he'd still be playing for England.

| I'm on my first game since Santa brought it down my chimney. Started with AFC Wimbledon again and go back to back promotions into league 1. In the last game I took them to the prem. About 10 games into season 3 Norwich offered me the job - they were bottom of league 1. I took the challenge on and ended up going unbeaten until March, had a spell of 10 games without conceding and won the league with 93 points. Simeon Jackson scored 33 league goals in 35 games including 5 as a sub against Wycombe. There were some players absolutely stealing a living at Norwich - Sol Campbell was dreadful, Chris Martin, Adam Lockwood and about 4 others got the boot at the end of the season saving me around £20k per week.
Got Tony Coton on board as my assistant for the championship and am looking to consolidate. Picked up the usual premier league cast offs on free transfers. We'll see how we get on.

Sorry, some of us are still stuck in the old fashioned ways of going to a shop and buying a box with a disc in it.

I remember getting an email about this when I bought FM as a digital download (Not via Steam). It mentioned that the game was fully patched automatically and couldn't be updated manually. I'm sure it mentioned contacting Steam customer service if you had any issues.
What version are you on?

I sorted it. Basically, I was staying with my girlfriend at her student accommodation, with F all to do, I downloaded Steam, but it wouldn't run, just kept getting stuck on 0% when updating. Brought it home, tried again and it worked fine on my internet at home, which is odd.

| Quick Question...Does Football Manager 11 work on a notebook?
I fancy getting it for when I have a break at Uni but my notebook doesn't have a disk drive (but presumably I could get it via Steam? or do you need the disk?)

Yeah you can digitally download it from a variety of sources (Eg game) not just Steam and you don't need a disc.
I've posted a reply on the will it run question in the games forum on the sinbin. Basic answer is yes, but dependant on specs obviously.

| I want to get started on FM11. However, I can't break myself away from my FM10 game.
Got Bradford City up to the Premiership and have kept them there for the last 4 seasons. I've also won the League Cup in that time and average a top 10 finish.
This season I'm up to 4th with 10 games to play and am in the 2nd Knockout Round of the UEFA Cup.
Why would I quit?

Maybe stating the obvious here, but you don't only look at a players penalty stat when deciding who to take them, others such as composure, influence, finishing and age all have an influence. Also, make sure you have a long list of takers and at least one of them is on the pitch before every game.

I'd say it was quite easy, my players have scored 7/7 this season.

I'm playing as Everton also. I use two formations: One a 4-3-1-2 and one a basic 4-4-2. So far I have finished 5th (6th was my goal), 2nd (6th was goal again) and 4th (Title Challenge was my goal), 6 points off 1st. Won the Carling Cup against Liverpool in Season 3, as well as getting knocked out of the Champions League Quarters by the eventual winners, Bayern. Board are unhappy with me even though I have had the best defence in the last 2 seasons of league football, I am working towards having 5 star coaches (currently 4 stars in each area) and the club is turning a profit. I am mainly spending money of youngsters and then shipping them out on loan. Currently 5 games into season 4 and top of the league, yet to concede a goal. Fingers crossed I can finally win the league.
I'd say my strongest side at the moment is:
Howard
Onouha
Jagielka (c)
J. Boateng
Baines
Arteta
Rodwell
T. Cairney (this guy just runs midfield for me)
L. Suarez
Lewandowski
Kadlec
Subs from:
A. Smithies
R. Bertrand
M. Mancienne
Van der Vaart
Lukaku (sadly, only on loan)
Lucas (19yo Brazilian, not the LFC clown)
B. Sahar
S. Pienaar
M. Fellaini
F. Rizcon
R. Barclay
T. Cahill
Oh, I was also given the England job at the end of season 2, after Capello resigned. Currently played 7 of the World Cup qualifiers, winning 6 and drawing one (Russia away), conceeding 2 goals and scoring 18.

| Started a new game as Blackburn, sold off some dead weight + Morten Gamst Pedersen, that along with a couple *slightly cheeky* transfers meant i've currently got a lineup of
Robinson
Emerton
P. Jones / P. Cannavaro
Samba
Olsson
Ninis
Jenas
Romiric
Hazard
Neymar
Lukaku
Bunn
Cannavaro / Jones
Nelsen
Lallana
Vyntra
Kalinic
MB Diouf
Took over Man Utd in order to sell Samba at the end of the season for 27.5 Million, he was desperate to go, and we agreed the fee but it got cancelled due to transfer budget reasons, and I was desperate to seal the deal. Since Fergie "retired", Phelan took over, and got sacked a couple months later, so McGuinness is now head honcho there.
End of the season sees me brining in Smithies, Sakho, Subotic, Defour, and a couple others, while Emerton, Nelsen and Romiric are all off.
Start of April now, im in 10th and in the FA cup semi, having knocked out Man Utd in Phelan's final game as manager in the 5th round replay. Also beat them once in the league, as well as getting one over Man City and Chelsea, all of those came away from home!

You're lucky you posted that here and not on the official FM forums. You'd be flamed to death for such flagrant cheating. But we'll forgive you. Cheater

| Well I'm still on with my FM2010 game. Currently up to the 2019/20 season or to put it another way, my 10th in charge of Bradford.
In that time I've taken the Bantams from Div2 also rans all the way up to English Champions last season.
Along the way I've won the Div2 title, the JPT, the League Cup, and the Community Shield.
Went out of the Champions League this season at the group stage after finishing 3rd behind Real Madrid and Galatasaray.
Current Squad (though I doubt you'll recognise most of them)
GK: Marcel Sauter (Germany)
DR: Ignacio Castano (Spain)
DL: Jimmy John (England)
DC: Kerem Usta (Holland)
DC: Giorgos Skrekas (Greece)
DMC: Andy Simpson (England)
MC: Lori (Brazil)
MC: Freddy Adu (USA)
ST: Kostas Angelis (England)
ST: Levan Mchedlidze (Georgia)
ST: Gianmarco Zigoni (Italy)
That's my main 11, the rest of the 25 man squad tends to rotate most seasons
