They are a big club, with a big stadium and great fan base. As advert for a PL it'd be much more attractive seeing a massive 52,000 seater stadium full then somewhere like the JJB struggling to get 17,000....always have good banter with the geordies as well. A team like Newcastle as well will be able (well you wouldn't have thought it this season (haha) to tempt big players from europe or even tempt big players back ala Owen, which can only be good for the PL). Quote
Geordies do not seriously
1) Claim to be the best fans in the world
2) Have expectations of challenging for the title/Europe every year.
3) Talk about a divine right to be in the Premier League
4) Refer to Keegan, Shearer or any other manager as "the messiah".
Apart from maybe the lowlifes hanging around Shearers waiting for the Sky Sports camera.'"

Do you think the Boro game is make or break Gaz?
I honestly think you will get out of trouble to be honest mate. I can see you beating Boro on Monday and picking up enough points to pip Hull to survival.

do you not think that's part of their problem?
they are obsessed with their past and there always has to be some ''geordie messiah'' who will come along and then magically create a golden era where they play football like barcelona and win trophies for ever more.
It's a sh*tty pipe dream and it's about time they let go of the past.

Absolutely mate.
I cant see us beating Fulham or Aston Villa, which means we have to beat Middlesborough. They look as devoid of ideas up front as we do.

I suppose i wouldn't be in your position and believe me mate I have been there far two many times in the past with Everton. Looking back you wonder what would have happened to us if we hadn't saved ourselves on the last day so many times.
But at the minute, between yourselves, Blackburn, Middlesborough and Hull neither team wants to take advantage and win a game. I've been looking forward to the games next Monday for a while now, I would hope full of passion with Premiership survival on the cards. Boro to me have a really good squad and I can't believe, like you lot, are still in real danger. Wasn't that long ago they went to Bolton and could have gone 6th, they lost and kept losing. Even more crazy if West Brom would have beat Spurs they would have been level with you and Boro. Going to be an interesting couple of weeks at the bottom.

so out of thousands and thousands (possibly billions?) a little internet forum represents the majority?
Come on. Your fans are always protesting for some ''geordie messiah'' of the past to take over. As soon as form dips the want the manager sacked and if it isn't keegan they want it's shearer, if it doesn't work out for shearer (it'll be the boards fault, geordie messiah never does wrong) it'll be tino asprilla or phillip albert they protest for.
Do you know why the name ''messiah'' get's coined?
It's because that's how the newcastle fans treat them, flocking in their thousands to welcome them, with mad hysteria and excitment, sure you see a few ''messiah 9 shearer'' on the back of shirts. Look at the way they welcomed owen. The whole things cringeworthy.

The Premier League needs Newcastle to go down.
Without Newcastle going down it will just be the same sides coming up and going down all the time. Newcastle going down will be a surprise to most people and it'll show that the league isn't stale.
The PL needs Hull to stay up and Newcastle to go down.
It also needs an Everton/Villa or Spurs to actually do the right thing and qualify for the CL in the place of Arsenal or Liverpool, but sadly they haven't been up to the challenge.

Yeh too true mate.
The thing is, there doesn't seem to be any passion, there is idiotic behaviour from Barton, but not real passion. One of the lads who would show some passion, Steven Taylor has been injured, he would run through a brick wall for Newcastle.
I think it will be a very nervous opening 10-20 minutes next Monday night, and i just hope the Newcastle lads settle down and pass the ball about like we did in the first 20 mins against Liverpool at the weekend.

Oh and I suppose you also wanted to say the PL needs Everton to win the FA Cup to freshen it up!

That's got nothing to do with people being hysterical.
It's because the city lives and breathes football and Newcastle United, like no other place i have actually seen.
Football is massive in Newcastle, and without being biased, i have never known it to be the focal point of some many peoples lives, as opposed to other towns or cities, no matter how successful the team has been.
Owen was a massive signing, absolutely massive at the time.
It's got nothing to do with people being branded as 'messiahs', it is because people of Newcastle generally live for the Toon.

It seems like most teams down there this year don't have the passion they should. Watching Hull last night against Villa they just didn't seem that bothered (except scumbag Barmby) but there just hasn't seemed the desire especially when one win could take either side really close to survival.
I think your right and it could be the key mate, whoever settles first could get a foothold. The thing is it's going to be very nervy early on but whoever settles first could just get that edge. The Derby element just adds to the drama. Can't wait.

Because they are smalltime s whose only pleasure in life is laughing at others.
What's funny though, if they looked a little closer to home, at their own clubs, they would all realise they would swap with Newcastle, that's what eats away at them.

From what i gather there were a few moments at the end where Hull looked like they would maybe get something out of the game.
Yes, next Monday night's game will be a nervous encounter i think mate.
Will be interesting to see who Shearer plays.

pffftt whatever.
That just seems like another translation of we have the best fans. Our city lives and breathes football like no other. Yeah. You ever been to turkey or italy? Some of them KILL for their team, their life revolves around the team. It runs through their blood.
You think your city lives and breathes football more than liverpool and the scouse community?
More head up the stuff from newcastle.

Even though Keegan has walked out on you twice you still won't criticise him. The situation you find yourself in has nothing to do with him, judging by the Newcastle fans posts on here.
If Keegan was to come back you'd welcome him back.
That's why other fans are right to take the pi55 over you and your messiahs. You might not use the flipping word, but that's how you act.
You're heading towards relegation and what do you do? Appoint the club's biggest star of the last decade, even though he has shown precious little desire to manage. The only qualification he has to be your boss is what he did as a player. Keegan was living in Spain and insisting he was done with football when your club went over and dragged him back to manage you. That's not crazy to you lot, that's doing what the Toon Army want.
Even if Shearer doesn't win a single game this season and takes you down most of your fans will still be happy if he stays on as manager.
All these things are why you rightly earn the Messiah tag.

I agree with you mate, that is why he shouldnt have been appointed for a second time round.
I remember him being interviewed weeks before he was given the job and as you state, he said he had been completely out of touch with the game.
Like Shearer, i personally didn't think Keegan was the right man for the job, however, you back managers and hope they do well. Keegan turned us from playing like a shower of s*it, to playing well at places like Old Trafford, etc... i think that is the biggest cause of disappointment mate.
