I don't find what he's done funny. I'd say that his indiscretions may have had a bearing on us not winning the title last year as as soon as this came to light we went on a terrible run. Obviously not all his fault but it certainly didn't help.

The part I find funny is people setting up online petitions, or drawing up pictures of him behind bars with big blokes stood behind him. I'd bet that those are the ones who may enjoy (maybe desperate was too strong a word) seeing him doing some time.

Thing is I am yet to see anyone condone what he has done, where on here has anyone said it's ok for him to do this, even the redsh[ii[/ites fans are yet to defend his actions. Bit of a difference between diving and affray but yes Ronaldo did dive so he deserved stick.

Even if he provoked them by repeating the rumour that Gerrard's kids weren't fathered by Gerrard, that doesn't make those brave warriors any less guilty.

But I can feel another "Cantona" coming on. Gerrard's defence will come up with some bull about how the guy insulted their mothers and you'll be claiming them as the crusaders who were just giving him what he deserved.

IMO most witness evidence of that night will be pretty unreliable. The CCTV evidence will carry much more weight.

As to whether it was/wasn't Gerrard, they'll probably track back and forward on the footage to when the people can be clearly identified. They'll then be able to see which people were involved. The only way that Gerrard will get off, if he did do it, is if the CCTV system is seriously bad and the people can't be tracked.
