| Quote ="andym1988"Why Benzema? Higuain is a far better striker. When Rooney leaves that will be another superstar that Utd have lost so surely for once the board must give Fergie the money to bring someone in that can do a top job.'"
Exactly which is why Higuain plays an Benzema doesn't an there's noway they'd swap him. Fergie has apparently had an interest in benzema for a while an Madrid would probably be keen to offload so it would make sense.

| He's obviously been tapped up, fair play to the bloke if he thinks he cannot live off the 300 grand a week he currently pockets at Old Trafford. I was disgusted to see he takes home 768 grand a month in image rights on top of his weekly wage, if he needs the extra £££s City can offer then he has serious problems.
Enjoy it Wayne, hope you enjoyed your last 20 minutes in a United shirt last saturday

| I can't believe either why United fans are so suprised that he wants to leave. Did they really believe that United was anything more than a pay packet for Rooney.

| Develop Hernandez, Wellbeck and Macheda til January. Fergie has always defended Rooney in the press and has even tried to cover up his awful form of late. Let him rot in the reserves and see how he likes that, not to mention how it would affect his England place, or tell him not to bother training which I'm sure someone like Brian Clough would have done. Very poor timing of it all. He could've at least tried to get himself away from the club in the summer by demanding a transfer, or could've kept schtum til January, as there is no question it is bound to cause a degree of unsettling in the dressing room. Anybody that pays a reported £50m for Rooney is a mug. He comes across as very childish and thinking he is bigger than the manager, not to mention his form since March has been absolutely woeful. Can't see his behaviour ever changing TBH, he will always act like a brat on the pitch - if Fergie can't sort him out no one can The way he is playing, United would be fortunate to get back the £27m he cost. A fresh start in Spain would be ideal for him but he struggles to speak English half of the time, and I don't think his Mrs would be keen to move their young baby over there and be so far away from her ill sister. Clubs will have to think about how much they are seriously prepared to pay for him though, out of form in the league, had an abysmal World Cup, another embarrassing escapade from his private life has surfaced - think the only thing that could damage him even more would be getting caught in a hotel room with Ricky Hatton. His commercial value is shot at, and his reputation will take a lot of rebuilding. At least when Ronaldo left he waited til it was appropriate and when United could get the best price for him. The player got the move he wanted to his favourite team, and United got a world record fee. Rooney's move would leave a very bitter taste. Poorly timed, club and manager stuck by him during a terrible run of form and personal problems, then he declines signing a new contract and says he wants to leave. I wouldn't stick to the firm I work for if I was terribly unhappy either, but there is a time and place to do things.

| The only good thing to come out of this is that Fergie has hung him out to dry and i'm glad, he's destroyed the players reputation with the fans.

| Gotta love Paul Merson on soccer special "He's been tapped up, simple as. Forget the real madrids, barcelonas, United are THE biggest club in the world, you don't say you want to leave unless you have something in place. Who's to say City, real or Chelsea want you? You wouldn't leave yourself open to that". I'm guessing it will be City, how would Tevez react to not being top dog? Conisdering a few think he's "overated" would the City fans like him at Eastlands?

| Quote ="PAUL M"Regardless of what we get for Rooney our once feared forward line of Rooney, Ronaldo. Tevez and Berba has been well and truly dismantled.
I think Fergie will need to sign a striker for Rooney, a midfielder for Scholes and a wide player for Giggs. We do have players such as Gibson, Macheda and Obertan but they are not proven and we need to bring in quality. There are tonnes of names that could be mentioned but I do think this is a huge job and I wonder if Fergie fancies another go round?
This could signal the end for the owners tbh, if we don't perform well and the ground does not sell out and merchandise sales slip then they might want out.'"
One of the mates said he says he saw Torres at OT last thursday which was confirmed by one of the security lads at the weekend Depending what fee we can get for him i'd like to see us try for Van Der Vartt like fergie should have done before he went to Spuds, quality left sided player and a fit Torres.
Gibson isn't ever going to be good enough from what i've seen, ok he can hit a ball but his passing is woeful for the first team it may work in the reserves but not against the big boys. I've seen Obertan a few times for the reserves and he's got all the attributes to be a quality footballer but he just doesn't seem able to bring all those attributes together.
Hernandez will murder teams who play with a high line but against teams who park the bus he's pretty ineffective. But he's still learning the English game so i'll give him time to adjust.
Macheada seems to have stagnated a little since his debut some say he things he's a bit of a superstar and has had to be brought into line a few times.

Matt James may turn out better than Gibson.

| At Torres being at OT. Do people really believe that he'd turn up at a rival's game with a view to a move in the future? Common sense trumps any steward's myth.
As for Rooney, well, I think he's not good enough for Real or Barca, so maybe Valencia will want him, or even Atletico if Aguero leaves. Can't see who'd want him/afford him in Serie A, Rafa knows he's gash so he won't want him, maybe Roma.

Didn't know we had a game thursday afternoon wasn't a steward it was one of the door security who lives in Leigh. He mentioned Torres without even being promted.
I can't see him leaving for another country as Coliene is pretty close to her family and has been quoted somewhere saying she doesn't want to leave Manchester

While it's good riddance to Rooney he's easily the best front man in this league when on form

On form? Drogba is better than Rooney on form, as is Torres, whilst I'd put Tevez on a par at least.

| Anyway, as for Rooney's replacement, it all depends on what way Fergie wants to go. If he wants a proper striker, Dzeko would be a class signing, if he wants a striker with pace, then Aguero would be a good shout.
If he's looking for a midfield player, then he should go straight to Brazil and sign Ganso.

Ganso, is he the lad from Santos? Heard many good reports of him but not seen him play. May be too late on Dzeko if some reports are too be believed:
www.goal.com/en/news/10/italy/20 ... urg-report
On Rooney, he's not gash though mate. He may be overrated with how some people see him on the world scene but he's far from gash. I'd say he's only second to Drogba in the PL, he's better than Tevez IMO - although the way he's going this season that could change - he's as good as, if not better than, Torres.

I think Suarez might be an option, Utd also linked with a midfielder from there too.
