What short memories they have on the banks of the Manzanares. Yes, the start to 2009 has been poor but a couple of wins and they're back in the top four. I tend to think that managers should only lead mid-season if their club is in particularly dire straits, which Atleti clearly weren't here. Then again, if Resino does a good job he has the opportunity to properly plan summer transfers.

It wasn't so long ago Atleti went 15 games unbeaten, I think that has been forgotten rather quickly but on the other hand if he's lost the influential figures in the dressing room - Maxi, Aguero, Forlan - then perhaps there was no point delaying the inevitable.

Could turn out to be a very shrewd deal. I've seen Faubert play a few times and he looks class, big risk mind, but I've got this feeling he will come good for them.

By referring to it as a "big risk" I meant more to Ramos' reputation and integrity as opposed to the money involved.

Ramos is a confusing fella. He moves to an English club and is linked with every average La Liga player he can find. He goes back to Spain and is then linked with every Premiership player he can find?

Not that I am bothered as a Barca fan though. Faubert is very average indeed.

Faubert has bags of potential, I've only ever watched him at right-back and I am unsure which position Ramos' will use him but I have a sneaking suspicion he might turn out to be a gem of a signing.

Alternatively, he could end up playing like a £1.5m loanee and return back to West Ham's reserve team in the summer.

From what I have been told that is a problem.

If recent results hadn't been so bad I think he would have hung on until the end of the season, I think overall his time at Atlético has been a success but I don't think he was the man to take the club up another level.
