No good finished 6th or 7th...winner was well clear and the rest finished in a heap.
I do not bet e/w myself but most people would do on a 40/1 shot.
It's personal choice some people are happy to pick up something rather than nothing for a near miss, others can take that on the chin and know when one of their selections win they are getting the maximum return by having the full amount to win.

| Probably a bit deep for this thread but I was wondering about why people gamble, and whether there is money in it.
I've always enjoyed a flutter, for the excitement of it, I havn't bet big or particularly won big, and whilst winning money is great it's hasn't really been the reason why I gamble.
However, I posted on here a couple of weeks ago that I had won £150 on an accy. Rather than spend the money I decided to keep it to one side as a "gambling fund," and that all of my stakes would come out of that. Now the last couple of days have been bad ones but I've still made consistent profit over the two weeks and that total now stands at £820. Some of it has been won on horses, rugby and football. But mostly it has been won on roulette.
On Sunday however I had over £1000, which made me think. Is it just a blip and will I soon continue to win, or does it prove the fact that whilst you may win at first, the bookie always wins eventually? Can you win as long as you bet smart and are disciplined?
So, why do people on here gamble, and do you make money from it?

Disciplin is the key.....give me £100 in a bookies and it will be put on bet after bet for the sake of it with no real thought or reason.
£100 in an online account and despite the vast choice of sports it's usually one bet at a time (perhaps 10 a week) and much more thought out looking up tables, form etc on the net.
One I make money on one I do not which is better now as I live about 4 miles from the nearest bookie and do not venture into town that often.
Why I gamble???
Been doing it for so long that it just comes natural I guess. My best win was in 1993 Glamorgan for the Sunday League at 500/1 and I guess in some ways I want to repeat that win and alot of times wins on speedway RL etc just get reinvested into more long term aims such as the Superbowl, Greyhound Derby, World Series etc in the hope that I pick out a big odds winner on that event.

Accumulators are just like a lottery IMO, but you have more chance of winning.
You can't beat settling down on a Saturday afternoon in front of Soccer Saturday with a few mates, few bets and few cans. And if one of them comes of its a bonus. Most I have one on accumulator is £110, but last month I was one goal away from £2500

Would not touch it with a barge pole
If Newcastle win at Villa, Sunderland and Hull draw or lose then they can get 16th.
Newcastle can get 17th witha draw and a Hull defeat.
Too many ifs and butts for a 2/1 shot.

| I gamble just for fun really aswell. Hardly ever bet big. Most of the time just bet small and win small. I'm quite new to it (started in about April with £5), have lost a bit but won a small bit aswell. Nothing to shout about and most of my tips are usually rubbish but as they say 'it's the taking part that counts'.
How do you usually do the roulette though West? Colours? Quarters? Thirds? Lost about $200 on it last year on holiday while everyone else was winning.

Right way to think of it as you don't win on the lottery often.
People who do the big 6 (Man U, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Celtic, Rangers) religiously in accumulators will have copped twice in 18 months I believe but they still people back them week in week out a patheticly short odds.

I see gambling as a bit of fun, at times, especially with accumulators, it is a low risk bet to win big money.
I dont think I would ever be able to make enough money from gambling as I dont know enough about it. I probably spend around £5 a week on bets, less now the football season is over.

I usually do 3 accumulators. A sure bet accumulator which is about 3 of the top teams e.g Man U, Rangers/Celtic or Leicester, to try and get my money back.
Another one is mainly draws, 4 draws usually around £300/£400.
And finally a mental one Around 10 teams, with draws, home and away wins, with a return in the thousands

I won £19 off £2 on Saturday. They usually let you win the first time to get you hooked, but betting on numbers on roulette isn't bad.
£2 is 10 numbers at 20p, number comes up is £7.20. take my winnings, three pints in the pub

One bit of advice if you can be bothered is study the results in the lower scottish leagues, conference north, south etc as bookies notice a say QPR rising the table but not so much a East Stirling or Albion Rovers and as not many people bet on them tend to get lazy and a team who should be say 6/4 to win away might be 2/1 or 9/4.

Thirds mainly, but only ever go for 1st or 3rd 12, then I've been having something on either 1-18 (if I'm going for low numbers), or 19-36 if going for high ones). Then depending on how the numbers have fallen before I will go for colours or odds and evens. But If I have money on 1-12 and red I will go for odds because the only odd that is black is 11. If I'm going for blacks then I will put on even too. It's a bit complicated but in short I bet strategically and reasonably big. I don't like scattering money all over the board. Seems to work more often than not.

| Something I have noticed that is long odds is Beijing Guoan v Nagoya Grampus which is top v bottom in group E of the AFC Champions League (Asian equivalent of Champions League). Nagoya are unbeaten in there so far.

Yeah I think the key is to know when to walk away, both when you are winning and losing. That example I gave was what I did last week, and I did collect the £600, but when you have been doing well it is tough to walk away. Set you self a target and when you reach it don't go any further, and if it becomes apparant that it's not your day cut your losses and walk away.
