| Quote ="Andy Gilder"Lobbed his darts in the lake in a fit of pique after he got beat.
Would Adams, or for that matter anyone else, have to average over 100 in every round to win the PDC World Championships? Surely all you have to do is average and/or finish better than the other guy, and in some of the early rounds of the PDC averages in the high 80s/low 90s were good enough to win matches comfortably.
You might need to turn it on earlier than the semis/final depending on where you fit in the draw, but it's not inconceivable you could average mid 90s, finish around 30-40% and make the final.'"
as much as i prefer the PDC...this statement is true. Shepard averaged high 80's on his way to the final!

Er, they were asking if Adams could regularly sustain a 100+ average. It would seem he can't at this time.

I'd venture there's very, very few players who can. Taylor, obviously; probably Barney, but after that I don't see any of them doing it over the course of a long tournament.

Erm, no. There was no mention of whether it meant tournament play or just one game. I just blew Maca's "myth" out of the window.
As Lord Percy said anyway, there are not a lot of people who can regularly sustain 100+ average over the course of a tournament; Taylor definately, Barney possibly. However, there are a few that could do it over the course of a match.

Darts Database is your friend www.teessidesoftware.no-ip.com/D ... Stats.aspx
I chose the dates from 15/01/1990 - 15/01/2009 and out of all darts players on averages that have been recorded, Phil Taylor is the only player to be over 100 on average.
His win percentage at 91.51% is also truly unbelievable.

Not really Wades fault though, it was not like he was missing chances, just Taylor raised his game even more and finished the job. That final dart to win that match is seriously the best dart i have ever seen thrown

truth lies somewhere in between, Wade certainly was not playing like he was for the first 18 legs.
Pah i've thrown better bulls than that!

Yes there split. Basically all the big names in the game at the time when they split around 13 years ago (Phil Taylor, Eric Bristow, Dennis Priestly etc etc) and all complained to the BDO represetatives that there was not enough money in darts due to a lack of sponsership. They offered to help them find the sponsership to boost prize funds etc and make darts worthwhile. The BDO represetative point black refused therefore the big names helped create a new brand of darts (with the help of barry hearn) which is know as the PDC (obviously the SKY version of darts). Thats why you find that the bigger names in the BDO move over to the PDC purely because there is far more money involved. Terry Jenkis only turned pro around 2003 because before hand there was not enough money involved to make it worthwhile. Darts has really taken off over the last 5-6 years and its ALL down to the PDC in my honest opinion. Though you do get some good matches with the BDO in the world championships

More like WWE and WCW fella. Go to the Oracle of Wikipedia for the great split of darts.
The Lakeside final is inferior to the stuff at the Ally Pally.

Hopefully they won't build up the Taylor v Van Gerwen match as much as Sky did, because we all know what the final result was.
Couple of good matches there though.
