Heard about this earlier today, now confirmed.
After the recent passing of Inga and David Stephenson it's sad to hear another player from the early 80's has died.
Tough bloke and just ran and ran, great tash too!
RIP Glyn

| When we finally began to turn things around after the debacle of the 1970s, one of the first areas the club rebuilt was the pack. For too long we'd been running with lightweight forwards who got easily bullied by the likes of Jim Mills and Mike Nicholas. The acquisition of solid, uncompromising props like Brian Case and Glyn Shaw changed all of that.
RIP to Glyn, a strong man at a time when we badly needed one.

| Seconded. He was a favourite of mine from that team, a big hard-running forward when we needed one. Also, he once insisted I got served before him at the bar in the Pier because I’d been waiting longer, so a gentleman to boot.

| His signing was one of the early markers of that turnaround after the stint in the second division. I remember the game against the Aussies on their 1982 tour him getting over the line to score the winner but they just managed to hold him up. Tough bloke, RIP.

| Tough, uncompromising and great player. Loved a sing song after the game in the players bar. R.I.P.

| I remember him getting sent off at the old Wilderspool for sparking one of the Chisnalls. It was really foggy. It was right in front of us, but mates at the other end of the ground didn't know he'd been sent off
I wonder what a 23 year old Glyn Shaw could do in the current game (in between suspensions obviously ).
RIP

| Watched the highlights of our 83 John Player Final win versus Leeds last night. My first final.
A totally different game to today, plenty biff, scrums against the head, Colin Whitfield missing a sitter of a penalty then gets one from the touchline, Gillys bravery for his try, woeful play the balls, some great ball skills.

He was a perfect signing for us at the time. We were at the start of turning around from the awful 70's and 80's except for an odd season or two and needed some proper players to help us kick start the revival.
An old fashioned prop who never took a step backwards. One of the unsung hero's that every successful needs.
