Matt Peet has named his 21-player Wigan Warriors squad for Saturday’s Betfred Super League game against Catalans Dragons.
The Warriors prepare for Round 5 of the Betfred Super League and the second of their two outings in France. Wigan face Catalans Dragons at Stade Gilbert Brutus this coming Saturday 12th March.

Bibby, Isa and Leuluai will come back in you’d imagine. I’d give O’Neill a bench spot for this one. I just feel like Partington’s bench spot has been a bit of a waste recently and we can get more from carrying a lad like O’Neill, who can give Powell a rest.

Agree with Partington, his 20 minute spells aren’t really contributing.

Even Shorrocks would be a better option as he is more versatile than Partington.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Bibby reverts to right wing with Zak left centre given Peets comments.

He did mention people swapping sides, so you could be right but he’ll also shift Cust and Marshall back over to the left hand side.

I think Shorrocks probably will get that last bench spot tbh but I’m itching to get a look at what O’Neill can bring. It probably won’t come in to their thinking but if O’Neill doesn’t get selected, he’ll be the only lad not to have got any minutes in these two games.

Shorrocks would offer cover for Powell (albeit not as good as Smith on the bench and Tommy to 9) but would also be able to play in the back row with Isa moving forward so expect him to get the last spot.

Looking forward to this and seeing how far we've really come.

Tomkins, Whare, Yaha, Dudson and McIlorum all named for them. I’m pretty happy with that, we want to test ourselves against sides with no excuses. We’re going to have to be very good to get the win but I think we can do it.

Remember there is one member of the squad unvaccinated. Unless it's Havard or French one regular might miss out.

So they'll let you in the country to potentially infect whoever, but won't let you have a game of rugby?

It's possible that the player who wasn't vaccinated when the report first came out has now been vaccinated.

Or it was a young player who's not currently in the first team plans.

You have to have had 2 doses of the vaccine to travel to France (the booster as well depending on when your first dose was).

There are exceptions in certain circumstances but then you would have to quarantine.

The non vaccinated player is not in France.

Looks like a Lam-inspired performance so far. Proof the last few years are not that far behind us unfortunately.

Hicks has battered us though, not surprisingly. Incorrect play the ball given against Mago when the Dragons player basically launched the ball.

Discipline with and without the ball has been dire.

A truly shambolic first half and on top of last week, is what has concerned me about how much effect the new coaching staff can have when we play the big games.

Quite poor. Looks like a bit of a lack of enthusiasm out there too.

A sobering half of rugby. We just make too many mistakes and it’s been a problem for too long now.

Well this is a shocking first half display.

As bad if not worse than the Lam era.

I don’t think it’s a coaching issue yet it’s individuals making very basic errors and a really poor level enthusiasm, but this is now a massive test of MP’s untested coaching credentials.

A jolly in France with this bunch of players was never going to end well regardless of whatever fluff they put on social media about training.

Absolutely terrible, error strewn performance. On the back foot from the off and never been in it. Will take some effort to turn this around.

Extremely disappointed, but I was expecting it. We've made silly errors in every game so far, we just haven't faced the better sides. Last week was a massive wake up call, looks like they haven't learned from it. I said earlier, I'm not too fussed win or lose, its more about the performance for me, I said I didn't want us to lose and look poor doing it.

Haven't handled the conditions well with mistakes or had the bounce of the ball but our weakness in the front row is always exposed in these types of games.

Well what a poor first half that was.

The game initially played in our half, poor errors and discipline and players not playing the conditions. I think it's damage limitation time as I don't think Catalans have needed to get out of 2nd gear so far. I think we've only had two sets in their half and fluffed both early in the tackle count.

I'm not going to say it's game over (learned that mistake last week) but it would need to be one hell of a shift in play for both teams for that to happen.

If Catalans score first and early on I fear for us.
