| How many games will he get for that disgusting tackle on Wells, the amount of times people have rightly criticised Wigan for those types of tackles,it will be interesting to see the outcome from the disciplinary. We need the video referee to help the onfield referee in situations like these

| I thought the same thing. Has that been a Wigan player commentators would have been up in arms and sky would have showed a thousand replays, there would also be a 20 page thread on the VT (there may be I haven’t looked).
It was direct contact with the knee against its natural movement and caused medial ligament damage, he should get matches for it.
I wouldn’t call it disgusting, players sometimes get it wrong, on this occasion he got it wrong.

| An accidental tip tackle and a half d attack on the kicker (not in the same league as some the likes of Lam used to take in a derby) are sin bin offences but a cannonball tackle isn't even put on report by the ref.
Interesting.
Then again they could also have seen yellows for a crusher and a chicken wing in that tackle and didn't

| It wasn’t the worst I’ve seen but still clumsy. I don’t even think the evil Wigan team have managed an attempted chicken wing (by Graham), to then go in to a crusher tackle (Graham) whilst Walmsley then goes in for the joints of the knee.
All were just a bit clumsy and I’d be very surprised if any bans came out of it but we’d be crucified for that sequence.

Not just me then! Wells avoids the chicken wing, it then goes in to a crusher and Walmsley puts the cherry on top taking his knee.
I’ve been frustrated enough by our bans to say there’s not a great deal in any of them ‘but’ if that was a sequence involving Wigan, there would be two bans on the back of it without any question.

If Terry O’Connor doesn’t go “ooooo that’s a shocker that” it’s not a crusher tackle.

Is basically it yes. I’m not sure what my eyes are seeing each week because things look crystal clear but it’s one rule for one and a totally different set of rules for others. How Brad Fash avoids a ban last week and just gets a caution is simply beyond me. The same for Jordan Lane the week before. To me it’s simply a case of not banning players for team who are short on numbers in their cases.
Anybody any ideas why James Graham got about 5 minutes to patch a cut up early doors tonight? Other than the fact it’s James Graham of course. If that’s a young kid, he’s off to the blood bin within 30 seconds.

| I was being a bit of a WUM on the Flower thread but what I was saying was true in a way.
We have a reputation that we are a dirty side. Probably based on our aggression under Madge that sides couldn't live with and then Waney didn't exactly help. Man Utd have the old "Fergie time" myth.
Ben Flower will always be judged on the GF incident even though his record is pretty clean. A high shot is seen as a pre-meditated assualt like Morley for GB.
The list of players injured by this dirty Wigan side that goes out to hurt people is minimal, but yet the tackles like Rangi Chase on Manfredi are very rarely mentioned. Lockers eye injury was a freak accident but roles reversed and he's a cheap shot merchant or he deliberately gouged him.
It's something we will struggle to shake (see the above utd reference) but it definitely exists even if it is sub conciously.

Why did they not have to go off for HIAs? A clear clash of heads. Granted they would probably have passed, but poor player welfare IMO

Now then Nicky lad, Brad Fash tackle on the knees was correctly explained, the tackle was aimed at the natural movement of the knees, unlike Alex Walmsley tackle this evening, which was a tackle in an unnatural position of the knees.
You will also find that both Hull clubs, suffer continuous bans from this inept system of judiciary, we’ve had a player banned in super league fixtures, after being yellow carded in a pre season friendly.

It’s not a go at Hull in particular, it’s just that they’re two incidents I can recall these last couple of weeks and when you support a club who’ve had bans handed out like confetti recently and for things that seemed none events, it’s little wonder we’re paranoid.

| Offence graded B - E.
The offence: A defending player, in effecting a tackle, makes
dangerous contact (either direct or indirect) with
the supporting leg or legs of an attacking player
who is being held in the tackle by a defender(s),
and who is deemed to be in a vulnerable position,
in a way that involves an unacceptable risk of injury
to that player
Make your own mind up.

I just couldn’t understand it and that’s not anti Saints bias or anything against James Graham but the game can’t afford delays like that in its coverage. It was clearly a very bad cut and there was a duty of care to just get him off so he could get sorted.
I honestly just think Thaler showed a bit too much respect.

| They won’t get anything IMO. There wasn’t a fuss made on the tv coverage and that’s half the battle won for Saints. A pair of cautions maybe to tell them not to do it again.

nope, was removed ages ago when they increased the interchanges, due to people potentially taking the and getting a free interchange.
then we brought them down from 10 to 8

| He's supposed to be treated immediately in backplay, or taken off if bleeding profusely, in which case Saints would either have to use up an interchange to bring someone else on, or otherwise temporarily play a man down whilst he's treated
