Very sad news that Jack has passed away when along with Jack Hilton, Maurice Lindsay and Tom Rathbone were responsible for the revival of the club which led to some of the best times and rugby in the clubs history.

One of the things I always remember Jack for when my eldest daughter and I went on a coach to Hull on a terrible night for a mid week game. Before Any of the supporters could get off the coach, Jack came on board and give every supporter a free ticket and thanked us all for travelling to the game in the appalling conditions.

Rest in peace, Jack.

Whilst it's always sad when someone passes away,my only memory of him is not a good one.We were playing Castleford away after a test match and my late father,my mum,my eldest brother and i had gone to the game and we were sat in the stand just behind Mr Robinson and my father went to complain about the team that had been put out(we could have postponed the game due to call-ups),but the club insisted that most of the test players would be playing but none if hardly any were playing,i think Gus O'Donnell played and was violently sick on the pitch,it was literally men against boys and my father who was a lifelong supporter was told to foxtrot oscar by Robinson,after the game finished we were passing the team coach and i had a go at Robinson,i was only about 15 at the time and Andy Farrell came over and threatened me with violence,so not all was sweetness and light back then

I remember the protests against him outside Central Park over the sale of the ground more than anything. It’s probably sad that’s the case considering he was part of the group that revived the clubs fortunes. It’s sad to hear of the passing of any Wigan supporter though and my thoughts go out to his family and friends.

2,I never didn't like him up until what he did to my father
3,I don't drink and it wasn't me rambling,it was me telling a story of an ignorant human being abusing the very people that the club relies on to keep going

I think a little respect is in order rather than petty squabbling.

Exactly, and some of the nasty comments only show the lack of respect these days that some people have for others when a death occurs.

What took place in and around 1997 is not the time for discussion.

I got to be quite friendly with Jack Robinson. His son played for Ince St Williams at the same age as my grandson who played for Blackbrook They also met up playing for Wigan and St Helens Schools . Being a Wigan shareholder I often watched those matches in the company of Jack and got to know him quite well. When my grandson was eleven Jack wanted to sign him but my son wouldn't countenance the idea .Somewhere I have a photo of my grandson sat between Jack and Grahame West. Five years later when my son offered, Jack said they had already signed young half backs in Billy Edwards and Luke Robinson and there was no longer room for another. To my everlasting regret my grandson then signed for St Helens.
As I said I got to know Jack quite well and always found him to be a perfect gentleman. He was passionate about Wigan RLFC. Thank you sir and rest in peace.
