| I swear - if Castleford had somehow ended up playing St Helens in the Grand Final, I'd have been cheering Saints to the rafters that night.
His team were nilled, out-enthused and out-classed tonight and he spends much of his interview complaining about a referee. Standard practice for him I know but makes it even sweeter to watch his side dumped out of the comp with little more than a whimper. Again.
Despite the never-ending posturing - still nowhere near a major trophy. Simply arrogant and delusional.

| He has run his course as castleford coach i think, they had no idea what to do on the last play except kick with no end product. If i didn't know any different I'd say he has lost the dressing room, nobody seemed to want to play for him tonight

| And to think, there are plenty who wanted him as our coach. Not a chance! He has no class at all, his tactics have been found out and are outdated. He would of taken us back even further.

| I haven't disliked someone in SL so much since Ryan Bailey
Put simply, he's just a miserable old bar steward which makes comfortably beating a sub standard Cas team feel very satisfying
I was waiting for his interview after we beat them a few weeks ago but he'd done a runner down the tunnel

| I thought he was an embarrassment in that interview. He should’ve been seething with his teams display yet focused on a video ref call that was probably the right one (given the ref had sent it up as a try) and let his players off. I think he needs a break from coaching tbh. He just seems so disgruntled with it all and seems confused that the very good Cas team of 2017 has fallen away and is now back to being the mid range team we all know. He had his Claudio Ranieri/Leicester moment (without the big trophy) that season but it’s given him an over hyped opinion of himself and the club.

| The word 'churlish' could have been invented for Powell.
It's been an issue with him for a while - he totally embodies the archetypal chippy Yorkshireman - but last night was a new low. His team haven't scored a try in about three weeks apart from that comedy effort that Wigan laid on for them when the game was over, and he comes out and has a pop at the ref for one 50/50 call!
Self-awareness lacking on a epic scale.

| I think he's reached his peak at Cas, like Noble did with us. Built a solid foundation but needs someone new to come in and take them to the next level.

| i'm not a fan, i've never seen anyone look as miserable or look like he's publicly disgusted with his team during matches as he does whenever cas drop a ball or anything.
I think cas had a purple patch in terms of recruitment, and he got lucky with a few older players squeezing some good performances out of them when he first took over, it's now fading, and his post match interviews after defeats are embarrassing

| When the who will replace Wane rumours were going around I think I wrote about Powell, Agent Millward with a Yorkshire sized chip on his shoulder.
Opinion unchanged.

Yeah i think he needs to move on to somewhere like Hull as he would get a really decent salary cap unlike castleford where he is restricted by small crowds

| The Powell to Wigan rumour was a just a hoax dreamt up in a WhatsApp group.

| On the subject of Cas. It would seem (if true) that next season they are going to have Trueman and Danny Richardson in the halves. Is it just me that thinks that this combo is completely lob sided? Two physically weak players, neither can really organize, hardly any big game experience and are pretty much the same style. I just don't see how it works. Can anyone explain the thinking behind this?

I have it on good authority that Ian Millward is set for a sensational return to Wigan. It must be true because my Aunty Brenda saw him having a Big Mac at Marus Bridge Maccies

They are both lightweight and need to work on their D but both are young and could forge a good partnership going forward, Richardson has the better long kicking game, Trueman the better running game. Cas are probably more set going forward with those 2 in the halves than us with a star for 1 maybe 2 seasons and a vet at the end of his career or a full back converting to a half.

I actually think that might be a good partnership. The both offer different things and are both still quite young. Loads of room for improvement, could well be seen to be a master-stoke in years to come.

It will be an interesting partnership.
It might come off, and if it does they could be the future England half backs. Richardson is more of a traditional scrum half - dictating play, bossing the pack around and utilising a long kicking game (and a bloody good bomb to the edges). Trueman is more of the traditional 6, looking for line-breaks himself or giving that pass that gets an outside player through the line. He’s got a good short-kicking game that gives us options.
Our problem this year has been playing with one decent half back. Every team knows that Trueman is our only threat so close him down quickly, particularly in terms of our last-tackle options. With Trueman on one side and Richardson on the other (as well as McShane who has a decent kicking game from the ruck), it’s not going to be quite as easy to nullify our attacking threat.
But... both Trueman and Richardson have a habit of becoming anonymous when the going gets tough. Only time will tell if they can both develop the consistency that top half backs need.

| Trueman is a decent young player who could become a full international in time (although he’s been a little over hyped as is the norm).
Richardson is dreadful. A halfback version of Jamie Foster and will be in the Championship/Union within a couple of seasons IMO. Cas have done smart business in getting money for an injury plagued Gale but I wouldn’t waste it on Richardson. Adam Sezer was rumoured earlier by the Mole to be going to Huddersfield. I’d rather spend the Gale money on the excess wages for him than drop goal Danny.
