Hardaker 8 Not much in attack but he will get better. Looked superb in defence and under the ball.

Sarginson 5 Poor all round but for one decent run.
Marshall 6 Did well for his try but never really got any running chances
Williams 5 Very poor, offered very little
Leulaui 5 Same as Williams
Flower 9 Awesome first stint
Powell 5 Generally ineffective
Navarette 2 Terrible, 2 points for turning up
Farrell 5 Looked awkward and out of place on the right
Greenwood 7 Some good runs and offloads.
O'Loughlin 8 some nice touches and strong defence as always. Looked fitter than i expected.

Poor performance all round. We had nothing new in attack than we had last year. Early days but i didnt really see any positives in the playing style.

Hardaker did do anything was a 6 at best. The lazy usual floppers annoyed me with Farrell and Isa. Powell is like Nathan Hindmarsh...3rd man in. Disappointed, looked off the pace, shows what a poor pre season selection does for you.

TL 4 for me. And you get 3 for showing up with the correct kit. Crap with ball in hand. Crap with his boot.

Agree with most others, other than lockers. Thought he offered sod all.

Dont forget Hardaker has not played for a long time and is not really used to the team so you cant expect too much in attack just yet. You cant deny though that he looked so assured and comfortable in defence and taking the ball, much safer than Tomkins ever looked.

he didnt make it to either try scored on the wing and the try Roby scored it was poor. You think otherwise?

We’ve a hell of a lot of work to do with the halfbacks and hooker. Zero space created by them and a massive concern for me. We need to lose Williams and go in a different direction at 6.

Roby try O'Loughlin was in front of him and fell backwards on him, wing tries the ball movement was far too quick for a covering fullback. No Fullback would of got over.

That was more due to very poor defence by Sarginson. He probably didnt realise he had such a hit and miss defensive centre in his team and expected him to make the tackle.

Spot on, two of the best centres in the league and they're not getting the service they deserve. Wonder how much time Lam will give Williams if he wants to deliver the more expansive game he's promised?

Was Williams so poor? Playing behind a beaten pack but still kept making half breaks. Leuluai at 7 offered far less (not that I'd expect much from him as a half). Losing Clubb on the same night we were having to adjust to 8 interchanges made it bloody tough and was a big factor in the loss IMO.

Exactly, he was banking on Sarginson making what should of been a fairly simple tackle, it was terrible defence and i like Sarginson even if hes not a world beater.

Hankinson has come in next week and switch Gilly back to the left. Also Tommy should never be allowed to kick on the last tackle again

I wouldnt lose faith in Sarginson just yet especially with the WCC coming up. Give him until after the WCC game. What the hell was wrong with our kicking game? Countless times neither Tommy or Williams put the kick in. On one occasion Farrell kicked it and it was awful.

Sarginson isn’t good enough tbh, he’s a really nice bloke and I have massive respect for him for the way he kept going after his personal issues last season but he’s just not good enough imo and Hankinson should be given the chance. And Tommy kicked 80% of the time and I’d say 78% of them kicks were utter dross

Sarginson is fine when hes on top of his game, he just seems to have these dips in form from time to time. He started last season like this if you remember but then came back and played fairly well towards end of season. I honestly dont think now is the right time for Hankinson. The Roosters have the 2 best centres in the world and if they shred Hankinson it could destroy him.

Who will Lam chop for the next game? I heard Lam roasted the players at half time (from a reliable sauce)- the players got a right grilling and it was hard to get silence from Lam. Wigan were competitive mostly, so I expect this to be a rare Lam result, with the score slightly skewered by home advantage.

Clubb mistimed a late dirty tackle from behind and got what he deserved - typical attempt from the pea brained chest beater.

For next week I’d like to see Willie Isa replaced by Sami Kibula, he’ll provide more impact off the bench with his size & skill.
