According to the numbers, Williams is a slightly better kicker than Hardaker over the course of his career (59% v 64%). I'd feel more confident putting the responsibility on his shoulders rather than Hardaker's as well for obvious reasons.

Whats all this fuss about Hankinson? Hes only played a game or two and already hes being touted as the next Gene Miles. What makes people think he will be so good?

In that one game he showed he is a proper unlike Dan "I don't like to pass" Sarginson and he kicks, somebody at the club thought he must be good enough to take

Sarginson had a good end to the season when he was moved in to that left centre spot and Hankinson showed up well in his game and a half, so we’re not in a bad spot with Gildart being our number one pick.

I know it’s not popular in all parts to talk about giving wingers a go in the centres but I’d like to see Manfredi have a run there in pre season. He’s not the most skilled when it comes to passing but he’s be a nightmare to defend against and his own defence is exceptional. Nothing ventured nothing gained IMO.

For me it has got to be a new signing unless Hankinson is going to play.
We have no current first team squad player who can goals and just as importantly no one with a good long kicking game either for positional play or kicking from hand on penalties.
I sincerely hope it is a half back signing even if only for a season or two until hopefully one of the younger guys coming through the ranks can stake a place on merit.
I'm hoping that this is at the top of KR's to do list.

I think that I read on the other forum that ZH had a success rate of low 60%'s which for me is far too low for a first choice goal kicker.
Also without being negative there is possibility that ZH won't be a first team regular.
I am hoping that Woods or Street can kick on but next season may be a season too soon for both of them.

There is also a chance he will never play a single game for us in SL, two and a half months is a long time when you're struggling to stay on the straight and narrow, specially with the silly season and new year thrown in as well

Hardaker was pretty dire kicking goals at Leeds so I don’t see him as a viable option. I’ve always like the looks of Williams kicking as he seems to have good technique but his confidence looks brittle at the best of times.

In an ideal world we’ll get the seven we need and he’ll be able to kick goals at above 75%.

Escare kicked 6/6 at the weekend, haven't seen the match so they might all have been bang in front.

From what I am hearing locally regarding behaviour and attitude to certain conditions put on him by the club since his driving ban, I think there are still quite a few hurdles still to negotiate before Hardaker ever wears a Wigan jersey in a competitive match.

We should just cut our loses and go with Morgy at 1, The guy simply isn't going to learn

Seems that way sadly.

He may be a cracking player but his continuous off field antics and persona do our club no good at all.

Maybe it's another reason why we haven't announced any off season signings? I suspect Edwards has a shopping list as well, so we may tread water for a season.

Unlikely to start though isn't he, until Hardaker screws up at least.....
