With Solomona fitting in nicely at Sale, does anyone here think Josh may end up coming back to Wigan after a couple of years?

We know he's gone for the money, but if he gets bumped down the pecking order at Sale he's not going to get a chance of an England cap [and England have plenty of wingers to choose from, so will his desire to play out weight the financial rewards?

Also , will Sale want to pay a decent sum to a player to be on the bench?

Just wondering because of the recent trend for our ex-players returning to the fold?

He said in the MEN yesterday that he's missing Wigan but is happy with his move. The issue with him coming back to Wigan is that there may not be room for him! Tierney has come on leaps and bounds and we obviously know Burgess and Manfredi are all class. Add in the promise of Marshall and Davies and it seems unlikely.

Around 2012 to 2013 Josh was one of the best wingers I've ever seen at Wigan. Not the best but in the top echelons.

I'm with you he is behind Burgess and Manfredi and the 2 young bucks coming through are a far better longer term bet than josh who for whatever reason lost his way a few years back.

We have 2 top class guys and 2 with great potential so just don't see a place for josh should he decide to come back from the dark side

If and I say if Manfredi gets his form back after injury then we can not afford to take Josh back. Thought last 2 games last season including the GF Tierney has done enough to be the 3rd choice behind Burgess and Manfredi. Tierney improvement has gone unnoticed in the main. Mainly due to Powell and Sutton, but he is a decent prospect and a good cover.

No point in spending a big wedge on Charnley when we are covered in those areas.

But if Manfredi struggles it could be an option.

Time will tell but as it is Charnley I feel will be the one that doe snot return. Sarge is a better option to return given his positions he can cover.

I'm with the majority on this. This is a shame since he was excellent last season. But Lewis Tierney really is looking good these days. He won't get in over Manfredi or Burgess.

My only concern would be that Burgess could rip it up this season, be the Super League top try scorer, and get plenty of offers from the NRL. Would he return so soon? I believe he would as he definitely has unfinished business and he would get a much improved contract over there.

If that happened I'd welcome Josh back with open arms.

If Josh does want to come back I think it would be a good option to take a punt on him, put Manfredi to fullback, San to 7 etc. Or even play Josh in the centres.

I agree with what others have said here. As it stands we are well covered on the wing even with Manfredi out. What does surprise me (slightly o/t) is that we haven't de-registered Manfredi for the season so we can use his cap space elsewhere.

Maybe we have, but are waiting to give Marshall a chance. If we are struggling around May/June time we might bring someone in?

Couple of years he will be back. Joe Burgess will be going back to NRL.

Was in the stand right next to that tackle . Could not believe how strong Lewis was to turn Dobson and hold him up .

I'm pretty sure the idea of being able to 'de-register' players due to injury is a myth. The rules state that players have to be registered in order to take part in training or conditioning at the club. Injury rehabilitation will almost surely be counted as that as there will be training and conditioning involved. The only way to 'de-register' a player is to basically release them from their contract.

A club could request some salary cap dispensation due to injury but my guess is that's only going to be accepted in the case of a large number of injuries (like Rads mentioned we'd done before the Wakefield game last year), and wouldn't be accepted if one player was injured.

Charnley not in the Sale team again today. Not going as well as he would have hoped!

Sale isn't too far from Leigh. He won't have too far to commute when he goes there.

Surprised he wasn't down the road doing corporate stuff etc with Sale. Can't see how he would get near the Wigan team though given how they played today. To rub salt in the wounds I see Solomona got a hat trick.
