Can't believe how bad his defence is, he 's been responsible for at least 3 Cas tries with poor defensive reads and weak tackling attempts. He is only young so hope he can improve but not seen much of any development so far this season.

He has also not played right centre much so a brand new partnership with Smith and Manfredi and was up against a mountain of a player in Webster.

We know that Wane prides himself on our defence so I'm sure he'll get Gildart into shape defensively.

The lad is 19. I really like Gildart. I think we have a gem there. Imagine what he will be like at 24-26.

When Gelling is back it may be good to rest him for a couple of weeks. I see Gilly pushing Sarginson out the team.

I'd take off those gildart coloured specs if I were you. He has the potential to be class but he has alot of work to do before he gains that status, let's just say he's WIP

It's pretty difficult to deny that Gildart's side of the defensive line was penetrated repeatedly.

It wasn't all Oli's fault, but I think he needs to sharpen his act a little.

Otherwise though, he had a good game and often does.

I agree that we've got a future star on our hands there.

I see the Ryan Hampshire show again failed to materialise. Very fleetingly I thought he was in for their winner, but that was the only impact he made.

Well Powell clearly doesn't see Hampshire as good enough for his run-on side. Gildart also did show some good quick hands tonight, something he's been criticised here for lately. And as Wigg'n rightly says, he was up against a beast in Webster.

I like Gildart and centre is one of the hardest places to defend, he was though poor in D tonight... I don't see that as a problem long term he will improve.
He did rush in a couple of times with poor reads which cost us tries. He also dropped off a couple of tackles. Cas have though a very good left edge, he will I hope learn from it on the way to becoming an even better player.

It was a difficult night for Gildart. He was up against Junior Moors and Jake Webster and both of them seemed to be fending off players for fun, and to be fair they've done that against pretty much every side. It's difficult for Gildart since he's only ever played on the left at Wigan. I don't think he's played on the right for the academy either. There are differences in positioning and how you go into a tackle, which explains why he was caught out on a few occasions.
To be honest I'm surprised it's Gildart playing on the right and not Sarginson. Gildart looks more comfortable on the left and Sarge has played a couple of times on the right and done well. There's obviously some logic behind it.
