haven't even got the shortlist yet! ST holders and members to vote. I'm guessing they'll stick with more recent players than Farrell. Newton would be a popular choice, maybe Rads, Richards, Hansen...oh, and Mathers, of course...?

| Mick Sullivan? If it's a player from the SL era then Radlinski gets my vote.

| Maybe they'll put forward some non-playing staff members up for the vote. Maybe someone like George Unsworth, or the spotty teenager that serves me a pie each week. Both well deserving of legend status.

| Just received the shortlist. Not sure who to vote for!
Ernie Ashcroft, Bill Ashurst, Frano Botica, Colin Clarke, George Fairbairn, John Monie, Cec Mountford, Martin Offiah, Andy Platt, Jason Robinson and Martin Ryan.

| Have never seen Ryan, Mountford or Ashcroft, will check with father in law.
Don't think Platt or Botica, good players that they were, could be classed as immortals. Monie was fabulous but only did 4 and a bit years. Ashurst is a personal favourite but didn't play enough games, left in acrimonious curcumstances although he came back for a stint coaching. Offiah again was a revelation but wasn't here long enough. That leaves Fairbairn, Clarke and Robinson from my era. George was a wholehearted player who carried us almost single handed for several years then was forced out as the good times began. Colin played for us over a long period, was a top class player and came back to coach us to success. Like Ashurst a real Wiganer and Wigan fan. Jason was a scorer of great tries, not a great tryscorer and was the best in his position across the world.
Think I'm edging towards Clarke but will have a chat about Ryan, Mountford and Ashcroft.

| This is just my opinion and i know it won't sit well with some, but if any back room staff member is to go in then Maurice has to be the first name at the top of the list and then there's a massive gap behind him and the number.
Simply put he's the most influential director that the club has ever had. Yes he has his faults, but his role in our most successful period was equal to that of Edwards, Hanley & Bell who are all already in there.
Whilst Monie is my pick from this list how can he have made more of an impact than Mo did?

Can't believe Paddy Richards is not in there . Frano or Billy Whizz for me then.

| I've voted for Offiah. He was one of my heroes growing up and did some ridiculous things with the ball in hand (Robinson did too, but Offiah just pips him in the icon stakes).
Anyone know who the current HOF members are?

Yeah I'd have voted for Offiah too if could.
As a side note, I was surprised to see that he was only at the club for 3 years. I imagined that he was there for a lot longer. Makes his achievements even more amazing tbh.

| Ernie Ashcroft. A local lad and I think a one club man.
I had the pleasure of meeting him many years ago and he was an absolute gentleman.
He played quite a bit before I started to watch Wigan but I recall many of the old timers who had seen him play state that he was a true class act with class being the operative word.
To be fair it's quite a decent list of stars!
