| Joke team really. They've started to pick only English players for some reason.
Escare and Joel Monaghan have been sensational all year.

It's a bold attempt to try and big up the England team.

Ryan Hall's inclusion was a puzzler for me. Monaghan, Carney or Joe Burgess should have been in there. McGillvary and Charnley have had better seasons, he's in there on reputation alone.
And yes, that's two seasons in a row now that every player has been English. It's drastically losing any credibility. 5 players from Leeds in a year they've finished 6th just highlights where a lot of the journalists who pick it are based IMO.

Cause he is, nothing to do with him being easily the best winger in the league, and if he in there on reputation then surely how do you explain sol inclusion, done nothing all year.

Lockers was sensational at the start of the season but I agree he shouldn't be there. Not should Hall! He's the best winger in the league and probably the world but as ever he's had a reasonably quiet year and saved himself for the big games. He was sensational in the cup final but that doesn't count towards this and no doubt he'll be brilliant in the play offs but his inclusion is for no other reason then him being English (a bit like Lockers although I'd have put Westerman in anyway).
Joel Monaghan has knocked spots off all wingers this year and his exclusion alone make this team a ridiculous selection for me.

Who would you put at 13 over Lockers then? Other than possibly Westerman, who's had a decent seaon for the league's biggest underacheivers, there hasn't been a better 13 in SL this season. And he hasn't missed anywhere near as many as some like to make out, he's 17 of 27 SL games.
Stating "he's easily the best winger in the league" seems to be exactly what the journos selecting the dream team have done, because purely on this year's form there are 3 or 4 wingers who have had better seasons.

| perhaps it should just be decided on a points system; tries, yardage, assists, offloads etc - someone with time & a fresh set of batteries in their calculator should be able to work it out for each position. At least then we'd not be pointing at any Pennine bias.
All academic anyway, I'm more exercised by who McBanana's going to select for the tour down-under - anyone who heard him trying to justify being half a planet away from the bulk of his squad the other day should be equally bothered IMO.

It's not my job to pick the team, every year there is debate on who should be in and who should not, and it's often very difficult to pick and some players who have had great seasons don't get picked, people are often disappointed when a player they watch most weeks does not get selected. But peaple should congratulate the players who get picked, rather than having childish spats and name calling opposition players. Leeds have a few in this year but have had very little and even none in title winning years, it's just the way it goes.

They do do that it's called the opta stats team of the year, but this is the dream team selected by the media, and stats don't always tell the real tale.

| The "Dream" Team has zero credibility - I don't know why there's so much interest about who is in/not in. It's picked by the press/TV so has the same credibility as if we had 100 random fans picking it - i.e. none.
The only credible team would be one picked by the players. Is it really so difficult for players to pick theirs at the same time they vote for MoS?

| Sick of this WBW garbage with Hall he hasn't even been the best in SuperLeague in the last two seasons let alone the world just another cringeworthy nickname dreamt up by Leeds fans/journalists to make them feel better about themselves that they're the best team in rugby league history. Tupou, RTS, Boyd, Morris just to name a few are all better than Hall on they're worst day.

Don't talk wet. He has consistently proven that he deserves that accolade, but it is slightly with tongue in cheek from the Leeds fans. Even if he not the best he is clearly up there and has been for a number of years.Trouble with RL in this country so called fans who clearly no nothing about the game.

Ablett [urlhttp://www.superleague.co.uk/matchday/player/1926[/url
over Farrell [urlhttp://www.superleague.co.uk/matchday/player/2228[/url
Stats don't tell the full story, but jeez you don't get stats like Farrell's unless you've had a bloody good year.

Surely must tour this year. I'd be leaning towards him and Widdop in the halves with Tomkins at fullback and Hardaker covering our weakness in the centres.

| At the beginning of the season we were told by the media that Leeds have the best back line in Super League 'by a mile'. And yet practically everyone has scored more tries than them over the season. Even in the Challenge Cup Final they won it by keeping things tight in a truly negative performance that was built around not letting Carney get the ball in open space.
Good coaching to be sure but also not exactly trusting the 'best backline in the league' to do its stuff.
If Hall played for a team that plays expansive rugby like Wigan or Wire we might see if he could score 30+ tries a season. Josh did in the last two seasons and but for missing half of this one would have done so again with ease.
Ok we know that a modern winger doesn't just score tries and that there are other aspects to his game - but surely the final judge of greatness for a winger is how many tries he scores.
Monaghan and Charnley are easily the best wingers in Super League. (IMHO of course)
To be fair Hall makes the most of limited opportunities. It's also interesting how Tom Briscoe seems to have been found wanting lately. No-one is seriously suggesting now that he is better than Josh like they were at the beginning of the season.

I don't suppose we should be too surprised by that. In the Challenge Cup Final 2011, one Yorkshire journalist reportedly voted for Danny McGuire as Lance Todd winner.

On the BBC sport website they've gone through some of the "experts" choices. This is James Deighton's from Radio Leeds:
Zak Hardaker (Leeds); Ryan Hall (Leeds), Michael Shenton (Castleford), Kallum Watkins (Leeds), Jermaine McGillvary (Huddersfield); Kevin Sinfield (Leeds), Tim Smith (Wakefield); Jamie Peacock (Leeds), Daryl Clark (Castleford), Andy Lynch (Castleford), Brett Ferres (Huddersfield), Weller Hauraki (Castleford), James Donaldson (Bradford)
