Looking at that squad it would confirm that Flower was the third player injured in Friday's match.

I'd prefer to see Lockers rested after the derby. Massive effort from him and I worry he's a little too injury prone as of late for a quick turnaround like that after such a big clash.

That law was changed last week apparently, he played for Workington

He did, but I think Sarge has impressed enough to keep the wing spot, for now at least.

Gelling was Workingtons man of the match in their game V Sheffield last week.

These next few weeks could be critical to Gelling's future at Wigan. He will probably get a run of games in his preferred position while Thornleys injured and he really needs to take this opportunity, I think it will be his last chance.

You can talk about it being his last chance (and it may be) but it also could be classed as his first chance. His first chance in his rightful position of centre to try and nail it fine over a run of fixtures rather then just the odd game here and there.

That's presuming he gets that chance. I hope he does.

He's had opportunities, he's just never done enough with them IMO.

Agreed; he's had nearly 30 1st team games, which is more chances than many others have been given.

How many of those in his preferred position of centre? Play McIllorum on the wing and see if he impresses.

He's had games in dribs and drabs, played mainly out on the wing. I remember reading a NZ Warriors forum who we're discussing Gelling's form for the Auckland Vulcans and they thought he was actually a second row rather then a centre. I'm comfortable he actually is a centre but I don't think anybody can claim he's had a fair crack of the whip in that position.

Stats may prove me wrong but I'd be surprised if he's played more then 6 or 7 games at centre and I don't recall him ever having a sustained run there.

But has he done enough to warrant getting a sustained run at centre? He had a spell of about 5 games there last season and seemed to back up one very good performance with a below par one. I've also been told his attitude isn't the best, I know a couple of people who went to a first team coaching session a couple of seasons ago and they said gelling was messing about all through it. He's clearly not showing enough in training to warrant selection, and even with how light we are in the SR he's never been given a game there, so the coaching staff clearly don't see him as a forward.
