Best game so far, solid under the high ball, ran hard and looked dangerous and you can tell he will play a lot better too. Definitely the not the over-the-hill has-been with dodgy knees that most on here had him down as.

He is getting better each game he plays. What a fantastic side step he has and when he throws the dummy the whole opposition defence goes the wrong way.

We were discussing him after the game and got on to the subject of 'some' Wigan fans writing off overseas players far too early. He looks to be the latest in a long line of blokes who have been written off after only a couple of games to then go on and turn it around and become a top player for us.

I learned my lesson with Pat Richards but some fans still have not. Matty Bowen is well on his way to joining Richards, Finch and Craig Smith in the scrapheap club.

A few numbskulls slagging him off after a couple of games is not "most on here".

His form wasn't good enough but it now is and he'll continue to improve. There's a comment highlighted in another thread where somebody describes him as the worst Wigan fullback in 20 years after a total of two games!

Like I've pointed out the ones who wrote him off were in the minority.

Ha yeah that's fair enough. I was critical of him but not quite to that degree lol. Loving his form at the moment though. Looked cool as a cucumber this afternoon, he has definitely settled in.

Quality today and has even more to give.

He just looks much happier in general. He was laughing and smiling during the game compared to the first few weeks were he looked downbeat and pretty fed up.

His family being over now has made that difference IMO.

As always with these things a small minority make the most noise, shutting out any voice that may offer a more reasoned assessment of a given situation.

Fitness is clearly improving, along with confidence. Good to see the fans really getting behind him now.

I do think he'd be a better fit though at Warrington or Leeds, he's a more off the cuff player rather than a structured third half back. He is still out of position sometimes when we are doing our shift plays.

Hopefully the more gametime he has with Smith, Green and Lockers this improves come the business time of year.

Its unfortunate that the WCC isn't played now instead of February, we'd give the Roosters a better game now the new players have settled in.Sadly thats the only time of the year to fit it into the schedule, unless it overlaps with the origin matches.

It's a very good point. I thought before we played that half the team that played in the WCC would have played in the grand final. The roosters had the same team that won their GF.

It came too early for us to be competitive, it also disrupted the start of our season. Obviously it's a great occasion and a great experience to be involved in. With the movement though we've had in players we were always up again it with the timing of the game.

Bowen looked like his NRL self yesterday settled in sun on his back smile on his face. He's not a physical superman but he's the nearest player we have had to John Ferguson he can beat a player with ease and can play off the cuff which is something I like in a playmaker.

Good god this one have gone off tangent, don't see what the beef is there. Back on topic, do people think we'll get an extra year out if Bowen? He looks far too good to retire after just one season IMO, perhaps Hampshire at SO next year then to FB with Powell to SO the year after could be the way to go

I suppose the destination of Green next season will be one of the deciding factors...
