| Just like last week I am sure someone is going to throw his stats in my face and hold him in high regard. Don't get me wrong he has the potential to be a great player but again for me he ruined his performance with dumb plays at crucial times.
His holding down/hanging around in the tackle is a very bad habit he has picked up. 2 or 3 times on the 4th or 5th tackle he have away needless penalties at times where we needed to consolidate.

| thought farrell was probably our best, up there anyway. not seen the stats yet but since the beginning of last year his have been consistently outstanding so i'd expect similar from tonight and he was heavily involved in our two scoring plays. he's given away some daft penalties in the last couple of matches but i'll have to see a lot more before accepting it's a problem. he probably makes more tackles than anyone else so is more likely to get pinged, that and wire didnt look like scoring when we had a set defence.

Speaking as the person "threw his stats in your face" after last week, I agree with what you say. Against more clinical opposition, those penalties would have cost us the game last night. But on the other hand, just like last week his yards and tackle counts will probably be high and he was involved in scoring. I just think a bit of balance is in order if you're going to say a player is poor as you did after the Hull KR game.
I don't think he's perfect, I'm not even one of his biggest fans, but he's showing early signs of stepping up after disappointing form last season - particularly in defence, which for me, was one of his areas of weakness.

| I thought he was our MOM last night tbh. The work he gets through is incredible and he really took the battle to the Wire forwards. He needs to work on that discipline but it couldn't take away from a great performance IMO.

Wasn't Faz favourite for Man of Steel for about two thirds of last season?
Wish all his seasons were that poor.

| he certainly deserved the plaudits from last night but he has been playing silly beggars quite a lot of late too, holding down and giving away one penalty too many. perhaps a slight fitness concern?
there are far worse players out there, plus he did battle on after taking the boot to his nose early on.

| Faz had a bad game against hull kr compared to his high standards but last night I thought he was immense, our MOM. IMO he should be captain while lockers and McIlorum are out, similar captain style to lockers. I think we are putting too much pressure on smith with the captaincy and the kicking.

| I fail to see how anyone can criticise Faz. He consistently performs week in and week out. Makes good metres in every carry, rarely misses tackles and scores more than his share of tries. He would walk into every team in Super League.
This is one position we don't need to worry about.

| Could his indiscipline be down to tiredness? He looked tired at points last week and this and he was giving lazy penalties away.
Should se spell him more wisely?

Quite possibly. I think part of the silly penalties is he is still relatively young but given the age of our squad considered one of the senior players and has to cope with that.
In reality all forwards give silly penalties away from time to time. Warrington had one called Riley who was very generous last night.

I bet SW can. He will be having a word about the penalties IMO.

| Just to clarify, yes he was outstanding in most areas of the game as he was last week.
My criticism is one aimed at his ability to give away a needless penalty at vital times during a game.
Against Hull KR he did it on several occasions and again last night he came up with 2 plays which brought Wire back into the game.
It is needless laying on that has crept into his game.

| I thought some of the laying on calls were pretty harsh last night. At least 2 of them the tackled player had got up, played the ball and it had been passed from dummy half by the time Bentham blew for the penalty.
I'm not sure if it's something the refs have been told to clamp down on this season, but we definitely need to reduce the amount we give away.

| lets face it, it the ref wants to penalise a team, to favour the home team, or to make it a bit closer he will pick on the easy stuff like lying-on, messing about at the ruck and not being square at the PTB. and if you are doing all them ok the ref will just say you're not back the 10.
No need to criticise Faz for this, if it wasnt him, they'd pick on someone else.

| A player who gives his all every game, fits into our style perfectly and could well play for us for 15 years with luck as I can't see him going to Aus (would get sunburn) or Union. Having said all that, let's start a thread slagging him off.

(MM will never be Skipper material for as long as he's got a hole in his a$$)
