| Didn't we release him early because he was homesick?
Should we have made any attempt to get him back?

Not sure I'd want him back now. A good player in his early days with us, but his attitude clearly left a lot to be desired given the way he switched off once his new deal was sorted. Can only assume he hasn't picked up adequate form since returning home to cement himself into an NRL side.

| Poor in his last year for us, no better at Souths.
Gone from a bully to being bullied.
Can't blame him for going to France cracking lifestyle. Good on him. Glad he is not back with us.

| I'm suprised we didn't put in a right of first refusal clause for of he ever returned to SL. Could have got a fee out of Les Cats for him!

| Why didnt we go back in for him?!?!? Rubbish Wigan. Lenegan is running this club into the ground. We are crying out for another forward. I certainly wont be renewing my season ticket next season.

| Bit disappointed in him as a person.
He was very good for us in his first season but he went off the boil when he decided he was going back to Aus.
Could be a very good signing for Cats if they get him firing.

| Seems he doesn't care too much about contracts, Still very good signing for them if he actually plays to his potential.

Who are you, his mum? He might fancy living in france, his mrs might fancy it. Good luck to him.

No, but I am someone with a Map and even I can see that someone who broke a contract he was happy to sign because he was 'homesick' is now happy to travel back to the other side of the world a year later.
He might fancy living in France, but that won't cure his homesickness that was bad enough for him to break a contract just over a year ago. Unless you of course think that the homesickness was never actually real?
So yes, I am disappointed in him as a person. Silly little comments like the one you made will not make me change my mind.

What if he was told he wasn't needed at Souths, forcing him to leave the NRL if he wanted to keep playing? What if he is splitting up with his wife? What if ‘homesick’ actually meant he just doesn’t like it in the UK, and he didn’t want to have a go at our country in public? There could be 101 perfectly reasonable explanations, no need to have a go at him as a person unless you at least know the full story.

His wife was homesick, not him.
Like a lot of people who come from Aus to here, the weather got to her.

I think it's fair to say the climate in the South of France is a bit better than Wigan.

| Seems he asked to be released from the final year of his contract at Souths because he felt he could no longer produce what was required of a NRL player. With the offer of a three year contract at Catalans he felt he could prolong his rugby career. This being the case I think we should be happy he is going elsewhere.

That's an awful lot of what ifs.
But if we look at it purely from a factual Wigan RL perspective, he doesn't come out of it quite so well. We basically got a year's work out of him for two years' pay.
I've known imports who contributed more to our cause.
