Still looks fairly shaky to me at times, no where near the level of intensity we had under Madge.

It might just be me, but it looks like we're having to do far much more last ditch tackling with our defence scattered and not enough working as a unit with our sliding defence like we had under Madge. I'd like to see some stats on our goal-line defence actually, it just doesnt seem that we can defend our goal-line as well as we did in the last 1/2 seasons

I thought it was a major plus tonight. To only concede two tries after the sloppy handling that gifted Hull their field position was excellent defensive work.

i'd say we've probably conceded less points than at this point that we did under Maguire

Didnt mean tonight, i meant in the grand scheme of things. I just think it isnt as intense as it was under Madge. It was good tonight no question

It was bloody good IMO.

Meanwhile, to play that & still score the tries we did EVERYTIME we got to Hulls end was a great sign.

We seemed to be making a meal of wrapping some of the tackles up in the first half, but looked a lot tighter after the break and, if anything, it was the defence in the final 10m that was the stand-out. I thought we rarely looked troubled tonight, very pleasing.

Having said that Hull were shocking.

Agreed. I was particularly pleased with Powell's defence, on debut. Some excellent one-on-one tackles.

Lies, damn lies and statistics say that we conceded an average of 15.22 points per SL game in 2009 against 15.26 so far this season. So no difference.

16.00 in 2010, so pretty consistent.

Thought it was fantastic tonight to be honest

There were some pretty poor reads and missed one on ones in midfield but the goal line and scrambling defence was excellent IMO. Plenty to work on before Wire mind, allowing offloads when 2 or 3 men are holding the ball carrier for one.

I thought our defence was fine last night but its not really saying much as we werent really tested. Hull were absolutely awful and looked clueless when they had the ball.
