| I guess I have to introduce meself... I guess my name says it all about where I'm from and my allegiance in the RL-world.
Anyways, I came to England to live with my fiancêe some 7 years ago. She's been a Warior since forever, and wanted to make me "see the light" that is Rugby League.
In 2010, I saw my first Superleague game. It was the Grand Final. My mrs. was at Old Trafford, and since I wwork nights for a supermarket chain, I had to stay at home and watch on telly. I really enjoyed that game, though.
So in 2011, my better half got herself a season ticket. She encouraged me to watch different games with different teams playing, and she hoped I would like the sport enough to start supporting a team. Any team. Well, maybe except the 5times in a row Grand Final losers. I also was able to come and watch 4 Wigan matches, both Hull-matches, the game-in-hand against... Wildcats(?) and the Challenge Cup semifinal played in Warrington. (For those with long memories, Wigan won all 4 games that I was able to attend )
I also watched several games on telly. Just about 3 or 4 rounds before end of League season (and start of the playoffs) I had almost made me mind up. Two teams very clearly stood at from the crowd, Warrington fith their speedy and highscoring flare, and Wigan, with the best Defense in SLXVI. Now... the one thing that tipped the scales was something sensational that I found in the Cherry&Whites, but was lacking in all other teams. The one thing Wigan has, that noone else has, not in Superleague, and I've not seen anything alike in the NRL games I've watched either.
So, my reason for going with Wigan over any other team, is quite simple. The Fullback with the number "1" on his back. Some people call this guy "Sam Tomkins." Others call him "the posterboy of Rugby League". And for yet more people, he's the main reason to dread playing against Wigan. Well. One of the main reasons, other reasons are Josh Charnley, Pat richards, Gareth Hock, Sean O´Loughlin, Brett Finch, Thomas Leuluai, Jeff Lima, Harrison Hansen, Lee Mossop... well, you get the picture
And... well. That's me, pretty much. Of course I still enjoy "my" sports, which is mostly performed by people attaching planks to their feet and then play around in the snow. But I've come to love Rugby League, the speed and flare of the sport is really fantastic.
And I'm a member of the Riversiders. I've shaken hands with Amos and Josh ^^

| Welcome
Remember to tell your friends in Norway about our great game, then they can tell their mates, and they can tell their mates, and they can tell their mates, then RL will dominate Norway and start moving throughout Scandinavia...i think its a realistic plan if i do say so myself

| Well, lets just say had you chosen any team other than Wigan there'd have been problems.
Quite frankly I can't understand how anyone could support a team other than Wigan!

| Seriously don't let the RFL see this, they will be over to Norway to set up a team quicker than you could say John Arne Risse.
In all seriousness, welcome aboard mate, good to see that you have taken on the game quite well, get down to as many games as you can and join in with the great atmosphere that's created. Plus, if you go to Bradford it will feel like you're back skiing.

| Don't wish to hijack a thread on Wigan board however didn't Sky send a production team over to Norway for a feature on Boots n All? Seem to remember either back end of last season or start of this season? They seems to love it, think they had 3 or 4 teams.

They did, Bill Arthur took a particular interest in one team. I think they have 3 teams contesting, 2 based in Oslo.

Always good to have another fan on board!

Well... what can I say... "Strength and Honour!!!!"
I didn't even know there was two different codes of Rugby... I saw my very first rugby match in feb 2005, it was a Six Nations game, I thought it looked fun... the my mrs. introduced me to League and when I saw another Six Nations match after witnessing the "quicksilver brutal ballet that is SuperLeague", I finally understood what she meant :lol
One funny thing... on Sunday just gone, she was at the Etihad Stadium... was apparently some kind of sporting event going on there.. I wouldn't know I was in bed after nightshift Saturday AND going back to nightshift Sunday so I seriously needed my sleep. Anyhow, when I drove over to pick her up about 20:10, I saw a bunch of St and Wigan fans going together having a laugh amongst themselves... good to see ^^
I seriously couldn't see that happening with say... United and Liverpool fans, walking together up the street and just laugh about some internal rivalry joke or whatever they were laughing at.
Oh. I wonder if Stevo is in pain at times... he seems very biased agaisnt Wigan, but he's all over Sam.... the comment he made during the Magic match was something akin to "you can't hesitate for a split second with Sam Tomkins, this boy will just tear them apart" and then it was back to alway saying what St were doing wrong, never anything about what Wigan were doing right to exploit the st. weaknesses. So I do wonder if it's painful for Stevo that Sam is wearing a Cherry&White shirt...
But hey... it's better with a biased TV commentator, than no League at all on telly, innit ^^

:rofl
actually my mrs. said that as well, at the Magic Cardiff she said "Oh, favourites to get promotion is Widnes Vikings, you should support them with your Viking heritage and all that" (with a smile on her face of course )
I tried not to be biased any way when I tried to decide which team I liked the best last year.... but seeing Sam Tomkins in full hop'skip'n'jump style, made all the others look quite boring... even Wires, and they scored tries left right and centre just for the fun of it last year.
And of course... the mrs supported them and such... made it a little harder to ignore Wigan. But that's in the past, I'm a Warrior now

Joking about what? that I'm a Warrior or that I'm nice fella?
I just think.. for someone who's never seen Rugby League before, it's incredibly hard to ignore Sam Tomkins... heck, it's hard to ignore Sam Tomkins even for a longtime supporter of other teams :lol (Especially if you're a St supporter )
Seriously, thoguh... if not for Sam, I'ld be just as likely to toss a coin between the "best attack" (Wires) and "best defense" (Warriors) in SL XVI... Sam just was the extra weight in Warriors' favour, IMHO...
Oh.. and I am, from time to time, looking up earlier games and histroy of a fair few clubs and players... I never do anything halfways
