Can we keep him beyond this season please?

It's quite possible. I'm not sure where we would fit him in, unless Pat struggles coming back after this latest injury. The only other option for us to find him a spot would be moving Sam to #6. and i don't expect that to happen.

Depends on what happens with Finch. We could be short of halves for next season. Sam stated in an interview early this season that he expects some game time at 6 at some point this season.

I think Russell will return to Wigan at some point this year. Wane will either rest Tomkins or move him into the halves and rest one of Leuluai or Finch.

He looks very strong with his kick returns but like every 18 year old out there he's got things that he needs to work on.

I think we need to rest Finch leading up to the play-offs. Put Sam at 6 and Russell at 1.

If Finch's fitness is ok, I'd leave him in the team. He's vital to our attack this year.

Exactly. So I don't want him risked in the easier games leading upto the play-offs.

He looked great running the ball out of defence yesterday but he must improve under the high ball and his positional play. I thought he should have been in a better position for Hodgsons try. A super prospect though.

Exactly and this is why I always urge caution with Russell and it is why the coaching staff tear their hair out with him. Russell was no where near some kicks yesterday and was totally out of position for the Hodgson try which ultimately cost Hull the match. It is like Russell forgot he was the full back and unfortunately such brain farts arent uncommon. You need to have at least some degree of confidence in your full back, Sam for example is very underated in the his defence and positioning, and Russell is a long way of being in a position where he can be relied upon. Being good at returning the ball wont be enough for him to get the full back spot at Wigan.

But he is still only 18! Give him some time working with Hampo and Rads and we will see a dramatic improvement in his defence and positioning.

PS No one should be compared to Sam in terms of development, he is a one off.

How long is he under contract ?
