SOUTH Sydney's monster pack will become even more terrifying with the addition of premiership-winning prop Jeff Lima next year.
Beneath the hysteria surrounding Dave Taylor's move to Gold Coast, Rabbitohs coach Michael Maguire and CEO Shane Richardson have quietly secured Lima a release from his commitments at Wigan.
Maguire's relationship with Wigan - he led the UK Super League powerhouse for two seasons before arriving at Redfern - was instrumental in convincing officials to allow the 29-year-old to return home a year early.
Maguire also has a long association with Lima, starting in Melbourne several years ago when he was learning the trade under Craig Bellamy.
The pair shared personal glory during last year's Challenge Cup final win over Leeds Rhinos, which delivered Maguire coveted silverware and Lima the Lance Todd Trophy as man of the match.
Knights coach Wayne Bennett was previously keen on Lima, but instead left the door open for Souths by offering Willie Mason a mid-season lifeline.
Lima will join the Rabbitohs on a two-year deal that's also defied interest from Melbourne.
The Storm will now concentrate on re-signing veteran bookends Bryan Norrie and Jason Ryles.
Wests Tigers were deep in negotiations with Norrie, before opting to recruit Rabbitohs prop Eddie Pettybourne instead.
Pettybourne's departure will help Souths accommodate Lima and Broncos star Ben Te'o, leaving Scott Geddes as last free agent in the NRL's most star-studded pack.
SOUTH Sydney's bandwagon collected an unlikely passenger last Sunday, when we spotted former Wallabies prop Matt Dunning draped in a myrtle and cardinal scarf.
But Dunning wasn't on the hill at Kogarah celebrating his team's thrilling golden point win.
He was across town doing laps of Brookvale Oval's corporate area, much to the bewilderment of Sea Eagles and Roosters fans.
AND finally at Redfern we'd like to give Matt King, Dave Tyrrell and Chris McQueen a huge wrap for their recent hair and fundraising efforts for Down syndrome charities.
Due to face the razor on Thursday week, the trio have raised nearly $15,000 in their Shave a Bunny campaign.

| Gutting news if true. Lima has been the best prop in Super League so far this season and seems to really enjoy it at Wigan.
Is he being released from his contract a year early then?

| What a pleasure it has been to see Jeff Lima play in the cherry and white if true. He is an absolute beast and has been immense this year.
I will still be happy with props consisting of
Mossop, Prescott, Dudson, Flower, Lauaki, Crosby, Burke, Spencer.
Another point, could this lead to IL offering Fielden another year if he proves his fitness?

| Gutted about this. Week on week Lima's stats have been astounding for us. Will be a big loss for next season but hopefully IL & Waney will be bale to make the best of it.

| SO, if true, yet another foreigner who doesn't think a CONTRACT is worth the paper it's written on.
Shame really, as I like Jeff Lima.
Still, as one door closes, and all that. It won't be too hard to find a top class prop, either through the transfer market or from our academy.
We need to stop signing foreign players if this is how they treat us.

| Can't believe this. Lima has been the best prop in Superleague this season !
Why do Wigan not hold a player to a contract anymore ? First Joel, now Lima.
Who do you want next Madge ? Sam? Charnley?

Who's to say that this isn't a mutual agreement and that Wigan are trying to free up some cap space to spend on the backs. It's easy arguable that we are over loaded with forwards, some use this cash on the backs. Makes sense to me. If not we'll get a prop replacement, jobs a good un!

| Isn't this a rumour? Has it been confirmed by a club? We have a thread for that.

Looks a pretty solid article to me - quotes a two year deal.

It does, but until the Rabbitohs or Wigan confirm it, I'm sticking my fingers in my ears, closing my eyes and pretending it isn't happening.
