| It's quiet obvious that our left wing is suspect dont get me wrong i like Gelling but the last 2 games he's bombed around 4-5 tries
What about moving Goulding on the wing and putting Hughes at ?
We cant afford to drop tries against teams like Hudd and Saints

never, Goulding and Charnley need to stick together on that left side. Its our main attacking threat. Gelling will come good. Hes young, inexperienced and has bummed some tries by being too flat or over running passes. Lets not forget that hes learning a new position and has had little experience of playing outside George. Weve played two of the top sides in the last two weeks and beat them comfortably. When that left side attack clicks we are really gonna take someone to the cleaners.

| Awful, awful idea to move Goulding, who has been a sensation at centre, and a player who for me is playing better than Gleeson ever did in a Wigan shirt. To move him and break up his partnership with Charnley would be madness.
I agree though that Gelling has to be replaced and I think it is now time for King to get his chance again. I certainly cant see him keeping his place after his performance last night.

| Playing Hughes at centre and Goulding on the wing worked ok for us when Richards was out with his first injury and for a big chunk of the game at Saints so sounds an absolutely rational option to me. That or bring King in. Don't think we can afford to carry Gelling much longer.

Goulding has not started any games on the wing this season and has only moved there a couple of times within games due to injury. Every game, bar the Saints game when he was injured, he has started at right centre. Wane himself said after the Saints game that our attack and dfence suffered without Goulding at right centre so he isnt going to move him. You dont rejig your backline due to one injury, especially when Hughes isnt even a proper centre anyway, and is himself just a fill in. Play King, an out and out winger, instead of Pat and job done and no disruption to the team.

| Sorry I'm getting mixed up, it was Carmont Hughes filled in for. Still think it would provide a more solid backline though.

| Id give Gelling some more time, shows the potential, and it wasnt all that long ago that people were saying replace Finch, and Pat before him, and look what happened there.
Let the guy gel and get used to it and remember he is a young lad and he is still learning the basics, like playing super league in pouring rain and slippy conditions.

Dealing with your last comment first: we can and we have. Gelling is a big unit who against some teams this season has made as many yards as 3 of their forwards, including a ridiculous 242m effort in one game.
His errors haven't cost us so far because we are dominant in the middle of the park and Gelling plays a significant part of that.Gelling makes mistakes, yes. He is very raw and has a lot to learn. BUT we are top of the league and our forwards are steamrolling the opposition. Not to give game time to one of the biggest natural talents I have seen in years would be stupid.
It's simple - if we can get Gelling to cut out the errors he will be one of the best players in the world.
Part way through a season in which winning the league doesn't really matter, when we are sweeping aside other teams is exactly the time to be giving this lad his chance - if he can fulfil his potential he will be a massive force in SL.

| We have bombed try's but we have not leaked many.
That for me is more important.
Gelling had a poor game without a doubt. But his biggest crime was being to flat. I would be loathed to drop a young player who has had a fantastic few weeks because he made a few brain farts.
Lack of effort cannot be forgiven, but for my money he just tried to hard.

They havent been senstaional though and he has made major mistakes in every one. As I have said previously Gelling is being hyped up beyond belief by some, which his on field performaces do not really justify, when in reality he is a long, long way off being ready. I am not saying he has been poor in every one but he certainly hasnt been sensational and for the most part has been fairly average.

| Let's remember that when Pat returns to action, Gelling will be moved back to the bench anyway. In the meantime, I see no point in shifting Goulding, who has been one of the revelations of the season at right centre. I don't know what that is - whether it's Wane's coaching or whether it's just Darrell's time - but I think it would be criminal to shift him out of a position that he has totally made his own this year.
I don't think Gelling's been a disaster, anyway. He's still a big handful for the opposition, and, as others have said, once he starts to click with George, he'll be a potent threat. But I wish someone would take him to one side and say: "If you see an open line, go for it. Don't stop, don't pass, don't step inside, don't step outside, don't dummy, don't kick, don't fumble - just go for it!"

| Personally I think the majority of trys we have "bombed" could also be blamed on Carmont. He is used to a partnership with Pat where Pat stays deep. But Gelling prefers to be closer. If George looked more Gelling may have scored last night.

No? I thought not. Be patient, look at the cup draw, look at the table, look at our points scored, we need to have faith in the future.

This
....and Lima when he first came..... he looks decent to me, just give him time. You think people on here would learn to reserve judgement rather than jump in and criticise after a just a few games.

| Gelling is a work in progress, given his chance soone r than Wane would have expected IMO.
Has potential to be the next Pat, great in the air, but faster on the pitch. Hence the reason why Shuds were blocking him in the air.
For now he is being let down by his positional play and fitness, both of which can be coached or adressed.
Just look at his meters this season and also remember Pats first season, when he was coming over as SOO and grand finalist, so way in advance in development that Gelling is.
Stick with and not chop Gelling as this will screw his confidence. We didnt need the 5 or so tries he has fluffed, but all of which will make him more determined to succeed.

He filled in for Carmont when he was injured at then beginning of the season but he also filled in for Goulding last week.
IMO Gellng needs a couple of weeks in the 20s, I agree that shifting Goulding to the left wing would be too disruptive overall, especially as the Goulding/Charnley partnership on the right is flourishing. Lenegan could do with getting Offiah and Robinson down to the training ground to have a word with Gelling about backing himself a bit better. I do think he will come good, but atm he is making too many erros and his positioning is woeful. Seems to be trying too hard as well which is making things worse, needs 2 or 3 weeks out of the limelight and we can see how Ryan King gets on.

| Move the in-form centre of the club and possible the whole league.
Let's reward him and his wing partner by moving him and separating them.

| I'd be happier with King or Murphy (or even Joe Burgess) on the wing instead of Gelling. I can honestly say I've never in my life seen a winger in Super League look as lost as Gelling does on the wing. He hasn't got a clue where to stand!
When he returns the ball he's fantastic, he's strong in the air and he's very good with ball in hand until he sees space and then he hasn't a clue what to do. That's not all you need from a winger though.
He's been woefully out of position in attack on many occasions and if he is going to continue on the wing he should be playing on the wing for the under 20's. I have a feeling they have a break coming up soon for the 9's so Gelling's job in the coming weeks should be to win us the 9's tournament.
