It has turned out to be a cartilage tear. Anyone any idea how long that will keep him out for? The big question is who will fill his boots while he is sidelined.

depends on the degree of damage , if its a minor tear , key hole surgery can clean it up and he will only be out around 3-4 weeks

From what's being reported, it should be a matter of weeks rather than months, which is good news. At least it's a new injury as opposed to a recurrence, which would have been a bigger worry given Pat's age. Hopefully he'll be back for the trip to Huddersfield

And give his other injury more time.

I assume it depends on how much of the cartilage is torn, because by the sounds of it he's going to be out for a few weeks rather than months. I tore almost all of my cartilage in my right knee and it was a few months before I could even jog and was adviced to not squat for at least 6-12 months. So like I said I assume it depends of the severity of the tear.

Play Gelling against Fev.

The possible replacements are Gelling, King and Russell and in terms of performances that would be the order in which they'd be selected.

If it's a minor tear then it's key hole, couple of weeks for stitches to fix and a couple more to regain full movement and the like. No real muscle or fitness loss as the time out is so short.

i think this is the end of paddy tbh, he has been nothing more than an average winger since the grand final injury, the only thing we will miss about his game is his kicking. Bring on Gelling or ryan king, both young and have the motivation in making it big in rugby league.

Was it confirmed that Gelling was not selected against Crusaders because he was late for training (again)? Little bit worried about his attitude if true. He had an excellent game against Wakey and had a perfect opportunity to stamp his name down as no 1 replacement for Pat. King didn't let anyone down against Crusaders and it might be worth seeing how he goes against a better calibre of opponents.

From the snippets i have seen, Pat was looking quite quick, compared to how he has been of late. I know he has been carrying and injury, but he looked sharp from the little i saw. Could anybody who went on Sunday comment please.

Pat looked ok to me, kicking ok as well, we need Pat at the sharp end of the season and judging by reports injury not too bad,

Richards " is Superman "

He looked fresh and like a man who'd needed a rest for a few weeks. It was the first time for a few weeks he'd not worn any strapping on his leg as well which was a good sign.

He's still all class but Wigan need to manage his workload as the years roll by.
