JusT wondering if now is the time to bring in a new on field captain. I have been impressed with Finches on field leadership in the last 2 games.The way he is marshalling and directing the side around the field.
We have needed a talker for a long time (ever since faz left) now IMO we have one.
Don't get me wrong, but I feel lockers played his best rugby when MM rotated the captains thus taking some of the pressure off him letting him get on with his game. Lockers leads by getting stuck in but isn,t an director or talker around the field.

There's no reason Finch can't talk and direct whether he's captain or not. Two leaders is better than one. If anything was to change the the leadership team idea would be ten times better than just replacing captains.

No need to change IMO.

Finch will continue to do what he does.
I subscribe to the idea that he's just being noticed more these last 2 games as the focus is on him.

The best teams contain many leaders and at the moment Wigan have Lockers and Finch leading the way with a few others starting to show some leadership.

I'd have Finch as on field captain though, and Lockers as club captain so that Finch can talk to the ref. Lockers is far too quiet and never seems to speak to the ref which is important these days.

also noticed today that Sam was shouting over to Gelling when to drop back and cover the touch line for kicks on the 4th tackle ....possible 40/20 chances

I agree and Finch was doing so today once again.

I'd say Finch is good to have as captain for getting in the ref's ear and trying to influence which when you're up against the likes of Briers and Sinfield you do need unfortunately.

That being said it would be a big change and I'm not sure what effect it would have on Lockers and the squad so may be best to leave it for now.

Finch can still be a leader if O'Loughlin is the captain. I did like it how on Friday he asked the ref to allow him to get back into position when he was having a chat, then strolled back to his defensive position talking to all the players. Ok Sts scored from the penalty but still...

Finchy is a half back. Half backs are supposed to lead and organise the attack whether they are the captain or not. FInchy is pretty animated though and gestures quite a lot which makes people notice him I guess. There's no debate to be had here IMO. Finchy is just doing his job as a pivot player in our attack, and doping it very well at the minute I might add. Plus, he's not signed a new contract yet and his deal expires at the end of this season

IL said in the SS bar after the match that they will be opening negotiations with Finch about a new contract on Wednesday.

I agree with the earlier poster who said that Finch's vocality has been highlighted by the captaincy. Keep things the way they are for me.

Fans see a game day. Every coach that has ever coached him sees Locky as a captain. Get a grip.

I'd take them both with a pinch of salt tbh. They're the 2 clubs that get linked with 100+ players per season and 99% of the links are rubbish.
