Dudson in if Eric banned and Mossop still injured??
Roberts in to add some spark to our three quarter??
Any thoughts?

dudson had a massive 4nations so its hard to understand why he hasn't had a chance yet.
if Roberts is half as good as before the injury then no doubt put him at 7 and let tommy rotate with micky mac.

Mossop should be back next week.

yeah hes played half back before i am sure of it, plus its not a great deal with finch in the halfs gets to have hes runs and touch of the ball, where else would he play if he is in form? cant see him getting in the , wing or fullback plus it allowed tommy to have more time at hooker instead of shuffling sean around.

He's played Stand Off in the NRL.

No point bringing in a player out of position when we have Mellor & Powell waiting ready.

To add to what I've put on the rumour thread;

I've been TOLD (not confirmed I know, but I thought you'd all like to know the suggestion) that Fielden won't play again. He will retire.
And worries that Moose will need an op on the ankle after injections in the week.

Time will tell I suppose.

Dudson is behind Spencer, Crosby and Burke in the pecking order, or at least he should be based on performances.

He was brought in to the roosters to play 6 by Fittler, I remember reading this somewhere, but they soon found out he was cack in the halves so they moved him to his original position, wing. If Pat can't kick I'd consider giving Roberts a go on the left. I know there tends to be a massive love in surrounding Richards but without his kicking he offers very little to me.

I would think Spencer will get the chance in Lauaki's expected absence. As for added zip in the threequarter line, it's not needed IMO. Although I do hope to see Russel feature again for us this year, on a fairly regular basis.

Interesting RE Dudson, not seen or heard much about him, never the less he is a work in progress who will in time come good.

I'd bring in Hughes for Tuson, to give us the added option of someone on the bench who can play in the backs. I think if we'd had a back on the bench today, Pat may well have come off after his injury. Hughes to centre, Goulding to wing.

Don't know why or how Gil Dudson hasn't got in before Lauaki.

when Macca goes off move Sam into the halves, Matty into full back and Amos on the wing. I've not really been impressed with Tuson off the bench this year, he seems to be a waste of a sub. At least with bringing Amos into the equation it keeps sides thinking about who is where and what it what.

I think most will have thought that over the past few months, even last season. I wouldn't be remotely surprised if this happens to be true.

Amos in for Richards, We don;t need more in the backs, but if Pat is lame, give him a rest. He needs to be 100% to not risk letting the team down.

To some extent I agree. I think Pat is solid enough but he has definitely lost speed and just doesnt look the same player to me, teams even seem to defend much better against him now with kicks to his corner. Even when at his peak though I always wondered how well rated he would actually be with some fans if it wasnt for his kicking. It is no coincidence that he began to be very highly rated when he started to kick, and get some very crucial kicks to win us games as well.

Both were anonymous in u20s this afternoon (lost 24-34 to Wire). Roberts was crap on the wing and even worse when he went in to the halves after Powell picked up a bad leg injury. Dudson was blowing like mad after a 10 min spell when he came off. Looks to have bulked up too much.

Dudson didn't impress me in pre season especially at Leigh when I expected him to take the lead and get stuck in alongside the youngsters. He looked to lack aggression and seemed work shy.

I say all that but I'd still like to see him given a chance. He may up his game when the heat is on and as a 4th prop alongside Lima, Mossop and Prescott he'd not need to play long minutes.

Dudson looks to have shed a few pounds so it could be a case of him struggling to get to grips with playing at a different weight. I've seen players change things about their game well into their 20's. Prescott for example changed his running style last year to great effect.

Too early to write off a young player so a bit of patience is needed. He was playing at Championship One level last year until Crusaders needed to recall him and he's playing at that level again this year. I think he was signed mainly to get a first hand look at his potential ability.

Then why did we sign him?

First year of contract will not count on the cap whilst the second year only counts at 50%.

Because we'd lost Coley, O'Carroll and Davies so a bit of competition was needed at prop. I'm not entirely sure why Wigan were happy to let Davies leave because I think he had more potential than Dudson.
It's reasonable to assume we got Dudson cheap though, so perhaps he's just been signed as cover because O'Carroll left.
