| Just got home from the match and there is not much I can say but well played Leigh.
The much vaunted Wigan under 20s had a tough workout against a well organised side who took most of their chances whilst Wigan squanderded a lot of ball.
In saying this I have never seen such a one sided penalty count against Wigan ,especially in the first half. This is either down to an over eager Wigan side or the leaning of the ref towards Leigh.
That is just my opinion and does not take anything away from the ruthless finishing of Leigh close to the line,Wigan just could not defend the line on the 5/6th tackle.
Wigan really did not show much with ball in hand and in a way it emphasied a trend which seems to go through the whole club,a lack of creativity at halfback.
Also I would like to thank some of the Leigh lads that I met in the Goose before the match for their hospitality shown me,even though one of them wiped his hand after shaking hands with me (tounge in cheek).
Good luck for the rest of the season Leigh, defend like you did tonight and you should go a long way.

| Nothing wrong with the penalty count wigans discipline was poor Thought Leighs defence was very good and at times Leigh played some very good attacking rugby Wigans pack ran the ball hard but they lacked at half back what Leigh had not a bad game if your a Leigh fan but poor showing from both the young Wigan team and lack of support from the Wigan supporters who could,nt bother turnin up.Great gesture from the Wigan Club allow the Centurions to take most of the gate dosh will help the club out thanks
All the Best for the coming season Wiggin from a Leyther"....

| Ben Thaler. A ref who loves his whistle and sees what he want to. A whistle happy inconsistant ref is a game ruiner. Wasn't too impressed with yon mon at Salford the other night either.

| Enjoyed tonights game thought our young ones showed some good signs in attack, scrambling defence and discipline let us down really, they couldnt break us in the middle and got closer to the line mainly on stupid penaltys, whoever gave penaltys away for back chat needs a good talking too from the coaching staff, it was either Dudson or Russell (or maybe both) I hate those penalties.
Was impressed with Joe Mellor and his kicking game. Gelling again stood out, IMO he is better than Goulding. Thought we looked better with Logan on the field again like in Lockers testimonial - which has surprised me because the general opinion i've gotten off the regulars who go to under 20s on here have strongly said Carberry is the better hooker. Maybe the spell at Widnes has done him great. Other standouts for me were Dudson, Russell and Hughes (think Hughes struggled a little bit with the defensive side of playing at centre)

| What was pleasing from a Leigh perspective, was that our youngsters went really well. Pownall, Murphy, Brierley, Nicholson, Hopkins, Rowe, Briscoe, & Singleton are all very young players. It was good to see them compete favourably with a top squad of youngsters.

I thought Dudson was poor last night. Yes he made a few good drives but defensively he got caught out and then the two penalties for back-chat.
More stupid penalties for offside at the kick off restart and then letting the ball bounce from kick offs proved costly.
I thought Carberry took the ball in in better than Logan and posed more of a threat that way but his distribution needs a lot of work. Gelling looked Wigan best player and Fraser took his try well.
Hughes struggled at centre, superb break but got run into touch when he needed to step inside.
To sum up, too much lost possession, too many penalties conceded which gave Leigh too much ball. Consequently they made that possession tell and Wigans defence wilted.
Leigh were worthy winners and Gelling apart I don't see any of those players making next weeks squad.

| I said at the game I expected Dudson to lead the pack seeing as he's the most experienced player out there but I thought he was pretty poor. He is a lad that should be trying to push for the first team and I would have expected a bit more from him tbh. He didn't really run the ball with any sort of aggression and he was hanging back in defence sometimes leaving gaps around the middle.
As for the good players on the night I really like Matty Russell. He's a nugget of a player with pace, footwork and real power and he'd be the first lad from the u20's i'd give a shot in the first team. Other then him I thought Hughes looks a threat but is better in the backrow, Powell and Mellor were ok but have a way to go to be first team ready and I thought Spencer was again very strong.

| We dont have a big squad at Leigh so it was fantastic to throw all our kids in and see them compete so well against a top club.
Hopkins looks like he will be the real deal at prop for us and I thought your full back looked tasty on his feet.
A bit disappointed that Wigan chose to play a reserve side in what could and should have been a great local contest, would like to see this fixture given more profile next year and to do something to benefit the hospice.
Spencer is rumoured to be on his way here, its a great way of toughening them up for SL, do you think any others may do the same?
