maybe it is reverse psychology and im oblivious to it but tony smith wasn't bothered when his 'great' team lost at home in the cup to us. He also doesn't think finishing top matters, even though it will be their first title finish since 1973 (IIRC). In comparison madge wants wigan to win the treble and expects his side to do so. For me this is why wire will always be a small club. Dont wan't the cup, don't wan't the shield, very poor.

back on topic, how can anyone doubt Wires quality? 2 games left and 2nd in the league...with the possibility of finishing top.

Wire are a good club and a big club that's growing. They have a top side, a cracking coach, a good stadium and some big financial backing. They will be a tough nut to crack today but if anyone can do it then it's Wigan.

Ultimately the league leaders shield means very little apart from bragging rights but both clubs are desperate for it. We want to keep our place as not only the best knock out rugby team but also as the most consistent side and Wire want it badly because without it they'll struggle to back up many people's claims that they've been this seasons best side.

Let nobody kid you that either side doesn't care. This is another massive battle in a series of Wigan v Wire games and it could continue for years.

Who's saying anything about quality? Just find it strange Smith didn't seem too interested in finishing top, wheras madge said it was very important because we want to win it all! Not doubting wires quality in any way just their expectations

That's just his way of coaching. I'm pretty sure that we do want to win the league. But it all rests on todays game.
