Planning to decorate my offices with a load of Wigan stuff from about the 19th to show our support - or is this kind of thing a bit passe these days?

I remember as a supporter in the 80s and into the 90s, whenever Wigan got to Wembley, all the shops would have Cherry & White stuff in them, and good luck messages. It would be nice to re-create that, I think.

Many of my childhood Wembley memories in the 90's was seeing the town centre shop windows decorated with cherry and white ribbons, balloons and good luck signs.

Now people tend to be wary of upsetting the football side of the town.

Stuff that. This is Wigan Rugby and they're my team, so if the latics lot get offended, then sorry, but that's their call.

I now, however, have two framed autographed Wigan shirts (one from this year and one from 1994) that are going to take pride of place in my new house when I finally get it.

Would latics fans really be offended? I get the sense that both sides are getting a bit weary of the feud. They had their big day when they stayed in the Premier League and this is our big day. If we are to have the town decked out in cherry and white again just like the old days can we also have a big 1980's style Wigan Lane ram-sammy should we win complete with a tour of the pubs by officials, players and a Challenge Cup spilling over with bitter, lager, mild & associated slops for all to drink from!

I doubt latics' FANS would be offended. Just that (I'm sad to say) idiot element who won't hear of anything rugby related. It's unfortunate, but there you go. It's a free country.

Has to be done - I used to decorate by Bedroom window as a kid it must have looked tacky as cack but I was allowed and was always so proud!! (was front of house too)

I'd urge everyone to do that, especially if they live on a main road.

Might have to do it anyway on account of my nextdoor neighbour being a Stain....

My missus mentioned exactly this earlier this morning. All the bakeries would make gingerbread men with cherry and white icing!

In that case, I'd say you were compelled to do it. I'd be disappointed in you if you didn't.

In 1990 I awoke ready to drive down to Wembley to find my neighbour had decked my car out in primrose and blue.

Same here, I see his back garden from my bedroom and I have to put up with seeing his Stains flag flying about everyday. Needless to say our regular rugby league chats haven't taken place since Saturday.

There was that documentary 'neighbours from hell' which featured that great big chimney on some factory or other in Haresfinch. The owners announced that they were going to paint the chimney red and white supposedly to reflect their support for Saints.

But in a massive error of judgement, they painted hoops on it! Needless to say, after the TV exposure the owners painted it white again.

That was the chimney at Pilkingtons. You could see it for miles. The locals were going crazy.

My grandparents live on Warrington Road (opposite Sainsbury's - other supermarkets are available) and as a kid we ALWAYS decorated the window...guess what? They don't know it yet, but it's going to be done again!!!

So if you're on a coach - look out for it! I on the other hand will be on a train so will miss it - unless the 6:59 from Wigan which is currently a train (according to Network Rail) turns into a coach!

I'm sure we wouldn't mind Latics decking the town out in blue and white when they reach a second major final in the space of a year.
