| Just what is going on with this guy? Seems to have just disappeared out of thin air, not even making the squads anymore. Is he playing in the under 20s? If so does he seem to be carrying an injury?
Its such a shame because there is a world class player inside him somewhere and I would love to see him ripping it up again in Super League like he was at the beginning of last year.

| It's been said time and time again. We all know he has it but the players in the team are playing well enough to stay there. He would need some injuries and to repeat the form from last year to stay at Wigan by the looks of things.
It's a shame IMO because Sam Tomkins is only fully effective from FB against the lesser teams. Amos was quality against the top sides from FB. We would be a better team with Sam at 6 and Amos at 1 IMO, ONLY if he was playing well enough to be there though.

| Massive confidence player. He looks very, very short of it at the moment.
I'd also question whether he's lost a step since the injury - I've not seen him flat out, but the way he carries himself certainly suggests this is the case.

End of 2012.
At the moment I reckon the club hope he's one of the many Wigan Aussies who want to end their contract early.

How can you say he's awful? Had he not suffered an injury last year he'd of been close contender for MOS, simple as - At the moment I can't see any place for him in the Wigan side, which is a shame, because he's a good player.

the try he scores around 1:16 where he gives a wry smile to the defender shows he is definitely a confidence player. when he's in form and cruising with confidence he will do anything the likes of richards or sam can do.
i beleive MM will use him when he feels he is ready or can be of use to the squad. simply at present, there are enough players doing a more than good enough job of keeping him out of the team and thats all there is to it.

A close contender? He would have won it hands down. His performances in a Wigan shirt at fullback at the start of last season were outstanding.

| The thing is with Roberts is:
•the more he plays. Where his performances are good, the better a player he is
•the more he plays. Where his performances are poor, the worse he gets.
•the more games he doesn't play, the worse he gets.
So it's not just a case of playing him back into form, he has to be playing well to get better form.

that was a pretty long deal you signed him on then. You might have an opportunity to get shut if Widnes come sniffing, they will be looking for 'star' signings to boost season tickets and he certainly has a reputation. I've seen him play quite a few times live and on TV and he seems to go from the sublime to the ridiculous.. I've seen quite a few confidence players but he is extreme.

| To be honest I think Roberts should be shipped out on loan somewhere for a while. Pointless him messing about in the Under 20s, he gains nothing from that, he needs regular Super League games and at the moment I can't see anyone deserving to be dropped in the Wigan team.
Maybe Wakefield would be a good place for him to go, with them seemingly in the market for players. Option of recall if injuries get really bad here, would suit us.

Agree with this. He was the best player last year until get got injured.

| Quite simply he's not performed in over a year.
8 games in 2.5 years is not good enough and for me he's been a failure.

It's how good he was in those games at the start of last season that makes the rest of his time here so frustrating. He produced a couple of months worth of unbelievable performances that were amougst some of the best I've seen from anybody in a Wigan shirt but outside of that he's been very average.
If things don't improve you'd have to say we'd be very lucky if we could get rid at the end of the season. To have his sort of salary cap space to play with would be very handy but I can't see an NRL team touching him and Roberts isn't just going to quit a good contract.
Maybe the hope is he gets on better with Wane then Maguire!

| Release him at the end of the year, without doubt, free's up a quota space and frankly, he isnt worth a spot in the team, regardless of that try versus Warrington last year.

Good post.
I doubt anyone doesn't wish Amos would find that magic touch again. As you said he was that good but would you give him a chance to get back in the side?
As AJ has said we should try to move him on at the end of the year.
Wasted spot and quota space.

| If Roberts is a confidence player he will need games to get that confidence back. He isnt going to get a game in a team thats doing well just so he can get his confidence back though is he?
This leaves us with a bit of a dilemma. We cant just release him as people have said as it will cost a fair few quid.

| I have defended Roberts plenty of times and think that when on form he is the best full back at the club. However as things stand, and if he doesnt improve drastically over the remainder of the season, then the club should do their best to get rid of him at the end of the season. A good 2/3 month spell over the course of 3 seasons just isnt good enough, especially for an expensive import.

| I just can't understand how he can have gone from being the 2nd most exciting attacking player at the club to a player with no future (it would seem). Very sad to see.

| Watched the season review DVD last night from 2010 for the first time and Roberts form was crazy up until his injury. He was on fire and some of the things he came up with were breathtaking! The highlights of the Cas away game are just clip after clip of magic moments from him and it makes you hope and pray we could get that same form back.
As I said earlier I think the only hope on that score is that he gets on better with Wane then he does with Maguire. I don't say that because I know for a fact he has problems with Maguire but more if that isn't the case them there seems no hope of a repeat.
