This.
One tried to run down Graham and got smashed... the other is just totally useless.
That kick straight out from Finch summed it all up I don't rate either.

| The halfback situation is a real mess - teams are reading our moves way too easily.
And, the most yards i've seen Lima make this season were in the first tackle of this game - makes Feka look like Adrian Morley...

Lima got lucky because a Saints player tried to put a shot on him and it backfired, he is a poor player and shouldn't make the team when Hock and Fielden are back.

| I'll say one thing we play better with Tommy at 9 and Finch and Deacon at HB.
The score board this week and last week proves it.

| Hasnt done it for me I'm afraid, dont rate him so far. His defence is also lacking, like the tackle he missed and just turned around with a "oh well someone else will get him" look on his face. Granted this is probably down to match fitness, but he needs to book his ideas up.

| I understand the frustration with Finch and Lima, but this seems to be a pattern with Australians at Wigan - they seem to struggle the first year. I remember people not being that impressed with Richards when he first started with us. Amos Roberts was the same, but last year at the beginning of the season he was blitzing it (I know he is not the same now).
I really don't understand why. You would think with the level of professionalism and intensity that they play in Australia, they would come over here and burn it up at the beginning and lose the intensity over time. Seems to be the reverse. To be fair to Finch he is coming back from an injury, and having to settle into a complex position, which requires knowing the other players. I am hoping as the season progresses he will come around ... the old story that class is permanent, etc. Well I hope so anyways, because it is the halfbacks where we are struggling.

| What I don't understand is that we have Paul Deacon on the pitch and yet the majority of the time an attacking kick went up in their half it was Finch. I think we should be utilising Deacons kicking more in attack. Thought Finch played better than he did against Catalans but I'm still not thrilled with his performance, especially with his kicking.

His short kicking was dreadful, especially first half. He's showing gradual improvement though, week on week.

| Finch...is over-rated. You were far slicker with Deacon on.
Out of the Melbourne trio Hoffman is by fat the best whilst Lima [are you Feka in disguise?

| Finch had a better game today outside of a couple of poor kicks and Lima was very solid again. I honestly can't (well in can) believe the attitudes of some Wigan fans in writing these guys off already. They both need time especially Finch who is coming back from his first ever injury layoff. As for Lima I don't quite get the criticism full stop. I've read a couple of people call him Feka Mark II and that's really puzzling as I don't ever remember Feka getting through 15+ carries and 30+ tackles a game! He isn't an impact type prop and should in no way be compared to Feka. He's a workhorse and is doing a fine job for the team.

You know it's wrong to talk sense when it comes to Aussies on here NK, I remember folk wanting Piggy out after a few months and wishing we still had Micky Higham. How ironic now that Piggy is one of the bigger losses in the team this year.

| I'd actually like to see some of you lot watch a game of rugby. Look what finch does for organising the defensive line. He positions everyone in attack and people follow. The only game where he has been poor this year was the catalans game.
we would not have got the draw at leeds if it wernt for finch
he scored our only points against wire
people are expecting too much too soon. he should be praised for giving a very good account of himself today.

The other thing is - Finch and Lima have copped a lot of stick since arriving here, but how many of last year's team of unstoppables have played anything like as well this year?
For me, only Sam Tomkins has been a consistant performer. Joel, Lockers, Tommy and George have all blown hot and cold. Prekky and Moss have done okay, but I think Coley has been less effective. McIlorum has tried hard, but I don't think he's the answer to our hooking problem. In the second row, I reckon Faz is now better than Hansen, but he still doesn't get as much game time.
If you look at the away league fixture at Leeds last year, when we crucified them, all of these guys were absolute dynamite. We haven't seen anything like that this year yet.
So picking on two of the three new boys - especially when one has been seriously injured and the other has had minimal game time thanks to suspension - is a bit short-sighted, IMO.

Agreed - we are a bit off the boil compared to last year and are missing the guile and change in play that Piggy gave us - together with missing Fielden who's has been the mainstay of our pack for the past couple of years.
Combine this with Richards missing the season start (look how much better we are with him in the team - takes pressure off sam at FB, & he get's us at least a couple more points a game with kicks) Gleeson saga, playing St George, Maguire, it's been a pretty disruptive start to the season.
Finch is struggling to get to grips with coming back from injury, adapting to a key position without having had much if any prep time with the squad, and expectations from fans that we have signed cronk rather than finch - he's definately more of an organiser and playmaker rather than a game breaker - some fans will never be happy with that. He is struggling with his game but this form isn't the player maguire signed.
Lima - bad (and probably harsh) start with the disciplinary has put him under the spotlight and every thing he does (or doesn't) is now magnified 100x.
If we can keep the results going while we are struggling with form and stay in touch at the top 4 then we will come stronger in the 2nd half of the season and the criticism of these 2 from 3 imports will go (apart from the usual lifetime moaners........)...
