| i like the look of the strenght of the team with players now returning...BUT i'm going to risk my life here and critisise Maguire.
once again he's dropped Finch to the bench. we all know ONLY games will allow him to settle and form a partnership (whoever we decide is his partner this week). however bad he has been (not so, in my opinion) he needs games.
Madge has shown a lack of patients with Amos and now is showing it with Finch. he signed the guy. he coached the guy at melbourne. surely he should have some faith in his signing?
I (based on the team names) would have gone with Finch and Deacon starting and spelling of LuLu and MM. games of musical chairs must stop.
i expect my head shot off for critisising 'his majesty' but i stand by it...
and as a footnote - has Goulding taken a knock? or has he been dropped also? (wrongly IMO if so)

I'm not going to complain about you criticising Madge, he's not infallible and has made a few mistakes at Wigan, just not that many. I think Madge is showing Finch that even though he's returning from injury and is in a new environment he is still a professional rugby player and as such should not make basic errors and has to at least show consistent signs of improvement if he is to justify his place in the side. Having him on the bench is, in my opinion, Madge having patience with Finch, because any other player would have been dropped. He's not the only one to be playing badly, but you can't keep playing a player to the detriment of the side when the team is not playing to its best. We need to start picking up a bit of form before we can allow ourselves to carry a player until they find match practice. Playing Finch on the bench is a compromise.

| I think that side is our strongest.
It does show the need for another centre however.

Same, Same.
But I dont think Marshs physique and defence would handle the Hull KR runners out wide such as Newton and Galea.

If Marsh was our MOM last week I think that said an awful lot about our performence as a whole. He did 'ok' but no more and full credit to the lad for being the only guy who looked ar*ed enough to try and chase back when Catalans scored 2 breakaway trys from our shocking passes but it wasn't a stunning showing from him by any stretch.
We need to pick our strongest 17 available and for me he's not in it so I can't say i'm upset to see him miss out although I really hope to see the lad kick on as I do with all our youngsters.
Outside of the Marsh non selection i'm happy enough with the side but Maguire must now try and get a settled team nailed down. We only have 1 player missing that would get into our first choice 17 so theres no excuses on that front. We've made far too many changes in pivotal positions this year and it's hurt us.

| I think Finch being on the bench is a good move. If we can start quickly with Deacs in and build a lead up it will give Finch a chance to get some game time without being under pressure and trying to force things like he has been so far. It's obviously a bit of a gamble and is asking Deacon to come straight back in and immediately get the backs ticking again but if anyone can do it in our squad it's him

| ANOTHER different halfback combination, with it also likely to change during the match. Not good for consistency and cohesion in attack.

| It would seem that Maguire agrees with me, a half back combination of Deacon and Finch is short of pace and could be exposed for pace.

Try Charnley at centre, he was awesome there for KR. Try Marsh on the wing, he has speed to burn.

| At the risk of being controversial it irritates me no end that tinytim comes on here and posts the Team Sheet days in advance and barring injuries/suspensions or family issues is often correct yet people still decide to post "their" versions of what the team should be sorry but that just irritates me. On a side note im guessing Madge has gone for Deacs as he has a better understanding of how our team operates it will take time for Finch to get used to different combos and he doesn't seem to see Leuluai as a Hooker despite many on here knowing more than Madge.

Maybe Madge always wanted to ease Finch into the team over a period of games but was forced into playing Finch to an extent with the Deacon injury. Now he's back hes looking after him and taking him out of the immediate firing line.
I like the Idea of starting him from the bench hopefully after the first 20-30 mins we start well and get a couple of scores in front which by no means is a certainty but if it was to happen Finch can be brought on for Micky with Tommy to 9 with no pressure on Finch to be creating things and pushing the boat out to impress.

I agree with you regards Deacon and his understanding of the players around him. But i think Magde does see Tommy as a 9 to an extent he's used him there if only for short spells in virtually every game this year . Thats also without having the luxury of having Tommy, Deacs and Finch all fit at once which has limited the options and therefore the amount of time Tommys been able to be released from the halfs to go to hooker.
Like the look of the team for friday although i hope Carmont and Richards are on the same wing despite how it looks in tinytim's OP, as i dont like the idea of breaking up that partnership that has served us so well over the last year or so.

| Sam is 5'11" and IMO not too small for a fb.
If he was played at 6 he would be targeted and have to make 25 tackles a game. now he's doing 8 or 9.
He turned the game at Leeds because he was fresh and had played at the back. When they moved him up his pace was too great for Leeds to handle.
Keep Sam at 1.

Key point highlighted.
I'd far rather face Sam at 1 than 6. I think he's wasted at full back, especially given the options Wigan have there.
He was wasted there for England too.
