Who thinks anything will come of this? I dont. The RFL will just sweep it under the carpet and probably fine Hull FC for complaining. FC probably didnt do the right thing in crying to the media about it but there is an obvious problem in SL with the refs, they are making too many mistakes. Yes I understand that its harder than it looks making quick decisions under so much pressure, but I think all fans want is consistency (thats all I want anyway, but its just not happening...) FWIW I think Silverwood had a fantastic game tonight, he is one of the best in the competition but refs like Child and Alibert are just making a joke of the competition.
Also didnt think it was worth its own thread but has anyone seen the RFLs attempt at a April fools joke? www.therfl.co.uk/news/article/ca ... -for-match

| The referee may have been bad in the Hull game but their problems lie closer to home. I think if they had won that game, nothing would have been said, however Agar knows he is under a huge amount of pressure so is making excuses for himself.
Also to add to the cards thing by the RFL. This is no April Fools. This is being tested in the Midlands League as it is proven that people who suffer with colour blindness find it easier to tell the difference between Blues and Whites rather than Yellow and Red.

The changes have been welcomed by the Action Planning Resource Indicator Legislative Focus Operational Organisation Leaders, who were consulted about the changes.

| The refs in SL are nothing short of shocking, the touch judges are either too old or too unfit, they never keep up with play & hardly ever pick out a forward pass. They should be held more accountable for their performances. But the RFL is a joke we all know that, how many things go on report when they could be dealt with there & then.
As for hull though Agar is shocking & would blame his dog for a defeat if he thought it would deflect the spot light off him.

| Full time refs pose a bit of a problem. Doesn't matter where they ref, they're still getting paid the same. You couldn't sack one unless it was gross misconduct (and giving 5 penalties on the bounce against your team doesn't count).
The question is, if James Childs goes into the Championship for a week/month/season, who is going to take his place? Have you seen anybody?
The 2 refs system in the NRL at least allows an experienced ref to go out alongside a less experienced one. If there wasn't an added cost (and thus less money for the clubs overall), our CEO's would be barking for this right now.

| True, the linos never seem to call much. They are supposed to spot offsides and forward passes, but you hardly ever see them raise their flags. Is it all done by radio, cos the speccies like to see when a decision has been made.

| Refs have no competition, not enough of them, don't think the big screen helps because they get used to passing it on, but SKY will not get rid.
Touchies are poor, we could see those forward passes from behind the posts, the touchies didn't signal, if they say something on the radio are they not supposed to indicate with the flag.
As for Agar, at least he did not blame Wigan's tactics for his defeat last night, as someone else said needs to look closer to home, always deflecting the blame, on borrowed time.

You say that but I did see on Sky Sports News that Matterson trashed him as well and basically said he spoiled the contest rotten.

True. I mean at the beginning the video ref was great because the refs had all been trained to not rely on it and to make calls and only use it if they were genuinely unsure. Since Cummings became boss of the refs that premise has flipped completely. They are now sh*t scarred of getting a decision wrong and I think ultimately that has to dent performance. If your always thinking negative, performances are going to be negative? I don't think the plonkers on sky help mind, arguing over every little decision.
Oh and yes the touch judges are really poor.

| I think refs are ruining a lot of games, purely because of the amount of times they do blow up for no reason. Need to let a lot more flow.

| I just don't get how the Yawnion refs are just streets ahead of ours.
On the rare occasion I watch the kick and clap, their refs and touch judges miss very little.

That's because they play at slugs pace and don't really have a defensive line to deal with.

They do tell the ref what they have seen, using the radios.
However, 3 times last night, Silverwood was told of Leeds players being offside (which is fine) and then that they were involved in the tackle (which should be a penalty)
He ignored all of them.

Bingo! Just because the touch judge isn't running about with his flag aloft doesn't mean he isn't having any input

| The touch judges have been inept in numerous matches this season, where the crucial pass was at least several yards forward.
Leeds's try against Saints a few weeks ago from Watkins's pass. All agreed on Sky about this one.
Saints 1st try last week against Bradford ( Brian Carney commented on this on one of the Sky review prorammes.)
And dare I mention Meli's try at Cardiff....?!!
No doubt Hull fans would dispute Charnley's tries from Lockers's long passes, but I would argue they were line-calls or Stevo's momentum rule...!

'Grimmy in sticking up for referees shocker'
Do you not think though the touch judge could have more of a say when judging a forward passes, or even when a team is offside etc? Its not hard, but at times it seems they have very little communication with the man in the middle.

| The Lima sin binning was a disgrace.
The rule says that a player can't tackle the standing leg of a player.
"Standing" mean staionary. At no point in the incident was Clarkeson stationary or on a stood still on a standing leg.
When Lima decided to tackle, Clarkson was running. At the point of impact the Leeds player had the tackled leg off the ground as he was still running. Basically his legs were pumping as he pushed the two Wigan tacklers back.
Silverwood made his decision on the word on the TJ's.
They said he tackled the standing leg, which was nonsense!
It was a legitimate tackle.

That's my take on it too. How can you have a standing leg if you'r moving? Hopefully the disciplinary panel see it the same way. Silverwood binned Michael Shenton for the same thing last week but he didn't recieve a ban
