On the news that Fitzgibbon is looking to secure the captaincy of the all star team, who would people choose as the 17/18 players for england to face?

With all the overseas signings i'm interested to see how varied the team choices would be

Dont think those teams would ever happen though as good as they look. With the england squad aswell, we wouldnt have a team to put out for our SL match.

I'm pretty sure there'd be a limit to 2 per club, seeing as teams will be giving up players for both sides

It's got to be a max of 2 or the coaches wont go for it. Some of the teams people here look fantastic but have 4 or 5 players from the same team (mostly Wigan and Wire) and these teams are heavily represented for England as well so some teams could have 10+ players away on rep duty. It could maybe be stretched even further to say no more than 1 forward and 1 back from each team?

I think it should be a series like in aus and have a rotating aussie/kiwi team lets say no more than 28 players in each squad and have it played one each at DW/HEADINGLY/GALPHARM Think it would be a very good series and make a few quid for the rfl

instead of disrupting the season...lets follow the NFL and pro bowl.
fans pick the sides a few weeks in advanvce........and we play the game a week before the GF, with both grand finalists getting a weekend off before the big day.

players from teams playing in the GF would be excempt from the game, opening the door for others.

in the probowl they pick payers in order up to about 6 per position.

ie...say roby, and mickey mac were 1 and 2, and it was a wigan saints gf, players 3 and 4 would step in........all NFL players take it as a great honour to be selected for the pro bowl...even if they dont play

but the NFL have the AFC and the NFC. How would we seperate our players? If you're having it at the end of the season why not just have an England friendly? If you changed your mind and had it mid-season it would essentially be origin which we already scrapped. The standard of the England team split it half would be way poorer than that of a Super League club.

If there aren't any selection rules concerning the All Stars team - which there shouldn't be IMO - then all the teams named above are bloody strong teams and probably will beat England!

So you wouldnt mind if, using some of the teams named previously, if on one weekend we had the following players playing in a high intensity (albeit fairly meaningless friendly) game, with the risk of injury?

This system is a brilliant idea to give the England team a warm up game at a higher standard but it could only work if there was a maximum number of players from each team. Otherwise some teams could have 10+ players out while others have none.

easy.........english, and non english...........then we have the proposed friendly under a different guise.

I don't understand how it's any different. Do you mean just the current system but fans vote for the teams instead of coaches picking them?

read back through my original idea..........yes.........fans vote for players, no limit to how many per team, and its held at seasons end...............thats the main difference...........it doesnt disrupt the season, and allows ALL PLAYERS (except grand finalists) the opportunity to be selected

Given that this is supposed to be a good test for the England squad, I don't see how we can play it at season's end, as too many players will be missing on GF preparations. Both teams will be missing upwards of 5 players from the expected first choices, and that really doesn't help the England squad to get a good preparation.

It needs to be mid-season, and include all the players for England that will likely be selected come the end of the year.
