If they wanted to train in sp surroundings and freezing temperatures, they should have gone to Woody woody's house....

Much prefer to see them doing this than going warm weather training in tenerife or wherever. IMWT

Definantly, never understood doing warm weather training when the start of the season is in cold weather and often snow. If you can pass and catch a cold wet ball while rolling round in the mud then you will find it easy doing it in good conditions.

Has it been warm in Orrell? Haven't they had any snow?
I'd have thought they been doing nothing but cold weather training so far.

Tropical up here today 5 c . With the thaw well under way the lads will not be snow training, they will be white water rafting down Edinburgh's Royal Mile.

Like a post above warm weather doesnt help when you come back to cold weather and playing friendlies in rain,sleet and allsorts, it just proves other times we/other clubs have gone to "warm weather training" they have just gone for a jolly boys holday a couple hours training the other in the pubs.

Given some of the stories I've been told of thier time camping last year, this could be interesting lol.

Do they only have pubs in warm weather areas? No pubs in Scotland?

I've always found this anti-warm weather attitude by some as a bit confused. Given the pre-season is probably about 12 weeks, I've yet to understand how a few days or a weeks warm weather training is suddenly going to make them soft when they'll have been training in the cold the other 11 weeks. Some clubs go abroad because they know they'll be guaranteed the weather to use the pitches etc.

Was talkin to ben davies...poor lad has spent bout £300 on thermal gear for the trip!!!

I suppose it's just what the coaches prefer in that case. I'm sure the players would rather spend the time in warmer climate for their free time, but you'd expect the intensity of the training sessions to be of a similar standard whether Madge takes them to Inverness or Ibiza.

what three days are they actually going? the weather could get quite interesting between the 16-21.

Cold weather training = more chance of injury, cold muscles, slippery surfaces and the like.
Warm weather training = opposite of the above.

It all depended on who took the training. In Radlinskis book he said when Monie took them there he worked them into the ground and the whole point in going there was the amount of daylight they had they used to have 3 training sessions a day. When other coaches took over it became a holiday.

I think the warm weather training under Madge would have been awesome as he would have flogged them.
