Ok its only a Student Test Match but it's Great Britain v Australia and its free to watch (without subscription) on the Sky Platform via Channel 433. Coverage starts at 7:15pm on Wednesday presented by Ian Ramsdale (he is a commentator on Harlequins matches for BBC London).

Apparently Premier Sports are planning to cover some pre season games in the new year, possibly showing for free as well, I suspect to give them a platform to promote their 150 games worth of NRL Games next year available via the monthly subscription they have.

Would be good if they picked up St Helens v Wigan on Dec 27th and the proposed Warrington v Wigan game.

Whens that? though our pre-season games just going to be Widnes and Leigh.

It hasn't been announced yet but I'm led to believe that Warrington v Wigan will be the final pre season game for both sides first teams, like it was ahead of last season. No way are Warrington going from Jan 23rd to Feb 12th without another game. It'll be in the middle somewhere. Could be wrong though. Not claiming to have any inside knowledge there. Wouldn't be surprised if it's Feb 2nd.

That was a good game for Woodys testimonial, certain to show if pre-season training has been up to scratch.

Hopefully it goes ahead.

Not yet. Virgin need badgering to get it put on apparently.

It will, just go on it when this match shows up in the planner and it'll show up, it'll then cut you off after the match programme ends.

As the last poster said, it's only free to air for the match itself. It's an old Setanta trick. Go free to air so they can go "hey we've got 150 NRL games on this channel next year, why not subscribe by calling........" etc etc.

Sadly this match has been postponed. They did say they had a back up plan if it happened but seems not. They are saying "We will be picking up at least 5 super eight games in the new year when the weather hopefully will have improved" but I haven't a clue what Super 8 is.

Super 8 is athletics matches Bilko (according to a google link from 2009).

It's one of the University leagues. My Uni plays in it (although we aren't doing so well in it after winning our league last year).

Uhtred beat me to it, although I'd be guessing at the teams who were in it. Surprised UWIC weren't in there, were certainly one of the top teams when I played.

I have a feeling it's meant to be the top 8 in the country, although I'm not 100% sure. It'd make sense with UCLan winning their league last year. Makes me a bit sad I didn't sign up now! Joined the Gaelic football team instead and due to frozen pitches and Bangor unable to get up to Manchester to play us, we've had 2 games this year, both away.

UWIC are top of the Wales and West league, won all their matches.
