Players complain that there are too many games and that the off season is too short, indeed this is often used as an excuse for our national players being poor at the end of the season. We then get pre-season money making games like this which are scheduled 7 weeks before the season starts and which is a game that is not needed from a fitness or preparation point of view,. This means that some players, if they are selected for England, may be playing 11 months rugby. It is madness. |

Yes maybe international players from the series just gone but I am sure even Maguire doesnt know who is going to get chosen for England 11 months down the line. Would anyone have thought that Fielden, Joel and Goulding would have been playing for England this season this time last year? |

The games are much needed to firstly break the monotony of the pre season training. It also gives us a chance to put things together in a game environment that we have been working on in training.
We will use squad rotation and also work on partnerships to gel.
There is no coincidence to the fact every team in the world plays pre season games. They are a vital part of our off season preparation.

I'm not complaining about pre-season games, more December games, is really the right time for them to be getting back into those collisions? |
